Altura Seattle Reviews from The Last Year
Great tasting menu, little pricey but worth it.
Awesome spot in Cap hill.
We ate here for my wife's birthday.
Their tasting menu is fantastic. I felt as if I was taken on a culinary journey. The restaurant was not overly crowded. This place is a great choice for any special occasion. I'm looking for an excuse to go back.
Lived up to expectations, which is saying something! We sat
Lived up to expectations, which is saying something! We sat at the counter and watched the chefs take time and care to craft each course. Service was excellent and understated. Each course was delectable, although the pasta (that we watched one chef prepare from rested dough to finished product) was my favorite. The wagyu was wonderful but an unnecessary extra that we wouldn't order again. Would absolutely return, but only for an extremely special occasion.
Most likely the most sophisticated Seattle trying to
Most likely the most sophisticated Seattle trying to emulate the Michelin model. My problem is, this was closer to Japanese cuisine, portions and pacing than Italian. I left hungry as this simply missed one or two dishes with a real portion. One ravioli, one meat bite, the entire wonderful adventure feels "sample size." The kitchen needs one large cook.
This might be one of the most amazing food experiences of
This might be one of the most amazing food experiences of my life. I'm not even sure I can properly describe it. So apparently their menu changes daily and that's so difficult to know because that just means I'm going to constantly want to go back but my wallet knows better unfortunately. The service was amazing and I like the concept of going in without knowing what we'll eat (and being given the menu at the end of the meal as a souvenir). Each course was incredibly creative, delicious, beautifully, and unique. I really want to describe each one of them but then this would turn into an essay. But it also sounds contrived to say that it wasn't just a meal, but a mind-opening experience. I just couldn't hold in my shock with each bite that the food could taste the way it did. My head literally kept shooting up from the food to look at my boyfriend to try to express the feelings I was feeling from the food. Did I mention that EVERYTHING was amazing??? Even the things that were raw (very few) which I normally really can't eat. And there were so many courses that we started counting down and guessing how much more we would get. We also had an extra entree - during one of the courses, there was a small little blip in the food (not anything big at all and nothing that hindered my enjoyment of the food) so to make it up for us, we got both the entrees: both the lamb and the wagyu. And we were STUFFED by the end. Like couldn't have managed a single more bite stuffed. We didn't get a drink pairing either but did do a couple cocktails. I like the pairing options though: their menu had a wine pairing, non-alcoholic pairing, and a "balancing act" where they alternate between alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I also really liked the number of desserts: the first one before the entree as a palate cleanser, 2 more after the entree, and a box of sweets to take home. Overall everything was so thoughtfully and tastefully done, the chefs looked like they were having fun in the kitchen, and through the entire FOUR hours of the meal, I had a blast. Never would've guessed how long we stayed there. The next day, my friend tried to get me to do a tasting menu at another place and I realized that my taste buds had already been so overwhelmed at Altura that I physically couldn't lol.
We had the best dinner here on my husband's 50th birthday.
I treated him to a trip to Seattle to mark the occasion, and for the actual day of his birthday, I knew I had to find somewhere special. As foodies, we love a good tasting menu, and after doing some research, I decided to make a reservation at the chef's counter at Altura. I highly recommend reserving at the counter so you can see the chefs preparing each course. We shared a bottle of champagne rather than doing a wine pairing (reds give me migraines), but the sommelier also gave us a very generous taste of a sparkling from England that he had open (we'd never tried a sparkling from England before). Every course was delicious and innovative. They also had A5 Wagyu available as well as a supplement, and we happily added it to our menu - so rich and tender - served with some flaky salt to dip into. I am also not big on lamb personally, and when they learned that, our server happily mentioned that they could substitute a fish course instead. It was cooked in a brown butter sauce and was so tender and flaky - I loved it! Every course was amazing. The menu changes so I won't go into everything that we had, but trust the chefs - they will surprise and delight with every bite. At the end of the meal, I had ordered the add-on cake for my husband's birthday, but they asked whether we would like to have a slice or just have it packed up, and after all of the amazing food we had to pack it up and take it with us. It survived the flight back home (haha - TSA asked me if I had anything prohibited, and then asked me instead if I had something delicious when they saw it), and it tasted amazing the next few days - the best cake we've ever had! The decor is warm and welcoming - perfect for a special occasion such as ours. At the end of the night, the sommelier also asked if we would like to have some grappa, and gathered the chefs to toast my husband's 50th before we headed out. It was a perfect way to end the night. We have been to several Michelin star restaurants, and while Michelin doesn't rate this region, Altura keeps up with some of the best (I think just behind SingleThread and Atelier Crenn, but don't tell Thomas Keller that I said so, lol). We loved Seattle, and Altura was the highlight of our trip.
Left Out in the Cold
Arrived at Altura <15 minutes prior to the reservation. Door locked. Tersely instructed to wait at a sister restaurant across the street. It was below freezing. Obviously not a great start. Not sure what was more inhospitable - the locked door less than 15 minutes before the reservation, the odd stares before someone came to the door, or the person curtly giving instructions to cross the street through the chilly winter air to another restaurant. Quietly accepted their directive and sought shelter at the aforementioned sister establishment. Altura has a small space; likely, the response would be that there’s not much room for people to congregate prior to seating. That being the case, a good restaurant should be able to welcome guests out of the cold shortly before dinner time. If they are not prepared to do that, they could at least have someone polite come to the door to give guests their marching orders. Beyond that, the tasting menu was just fine (only the amuse-bouche, savory cannoli dish, and white truffles dish were remotely memorable). Staff were largely distant and aloof for much of the service. Vibes were like an awkward dinner party hosted by in-laws who have decided in advance of meeting that they don't like you. The exception to all that oddness was the sommelier, who may have detected that the brusque greeting and awkward vibes may have put a damper on things. He did his utmost. The sendoff was surprisingly warm and friendly - an odd whiplash moment that seemed as odd as it did cordial. Sat with this for more than a minute because they did manage a collegial sendoff. But that rude opening just about killed the vibes, and they were on life support the rest of the dinner. And the menu was just fine. I've enjoyed better hospitality at rural roadside cafes in countries where I don't speak the language.
Exquisite meal that reminds me of Michelin-star worthy
Exquisite meal that reminds me of Michelin-star worthy cuisine. The opening courses literally started with Osetra caviar and then just got more luxurious from there. Gorgeous wrapped prawns, a beautiful chawanmushi-like dish with salmon roe and mussel, oyster with anchovy crumbles, and a sea urchin cannoli, delightful prawn butter popcorn, angolotti with black truffles, and sourdough bread you see (and smell) coming right out of the oven. The little intermetzzos, broths, and other small bites are well placed, and pace out the entire meal. A cute little song playlist, and friendly, down-to-earth, but very professional service. They took such good care of us. Come with a very empty stomach, as the volume of food is just overwhelming and it comes out in course after course after course. But what an evening. Three hours of nice, friendly people bringing you plate upon plate of delicious food. Plus reservations, gratuity, mostly taken care of on Tock, so you can just focus on food. We had a great time.
Atmosphere is nice though, I do quite like the 'casual fine
Atmosphere is nice though, I do quite like the 'casual fine dining' thing they have going. Service however is subpar. The food is lackluster for such a fine dining experience. There's nothing wrong with the portion size, the ingredients they use, or anything like that. Just... there's nothing special at all about the food. It's not even 'different', really. It all tastes okay... not bland or overseasoned or anything like that, but just okay. Imagine if you get a meal from a cafeteria or something? It's kind of like that. And yes, there's original spins on the food, but that shouldn't be a sole determinant of whether the food is 'good' or not.
We came here for my birthday dinner with my family and it
We came here for my birthday dinner with my family and it was the best meal I've had in Seattle. Yes, it's pricey but food quality is superior to other restaurants with the same price point. We splurged for the wagyu course and it melted in your mouth- totally worth it.
What an incredible experience.
The food was fantastic. Every course was spectacular. The quality, flavor, and presentation were all top notch. We sat at the bar, and it was the perfect spot to watch the chefs prepare the delicious works of art we were about to eat. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
