Blairscove House Durrus Reviews from The Last Year
Smashing spot
Location was perfect, we enjoyed the breakfast particularly as it was brought to our apartment each morning, food was high quality. Only disappointment was the dinner on first night, too formal and heavy. We would have liked an easier and lighter meal option.
Blairscove is super
Two nights stay, one dinner. Every aspect 5star quality. The restaurant is really first class, the format is fixed but every dish was special and staff super charming and helpful. We stayed in the loft with the beautiful views from the windows over looking the sea, the room has its own kitchen, perfectly designed, even has its own fireplace. Just a great place to be, in a most beautiful part of the world. Choose Blairscove, I don’t think you’ll regret it.
As always..AMAZING!
Our favourite place to visit where the moment we enter through the gates we relax and leave all worries behind us. From the moment we arrived, greeted by Ann she showed us to our accommodation which was just so beautiful &chilled .We had booked dinner for 7:30 and it did not disappoint OUTSTANDING!! Staff were so lovely, friendly and attentive it was a dream. Looking forward to our next visit again very soon fingers X’d!
Night away
Just loved this place. Tranquil, peaceful and restful. Apartment was fabulous. Everything needed was there. Lit the fire. Sampled the sherry. Restaurant amazing and staff very helpful. We shall return!
Wonderful Experience
We arrived down to Blairscove while Storm Babet was in full force. Even though the wind was howling and rain falling, a string of twinkling lights strung across the Courtyard welcomed us there. We stayed in the beautiful Mezzanine Apartment looking over the Bay, We dined that night in the beautiful dining room, magnificent buffet starters and an extensive main course Menu of which we both chose Black Sole, beautifully cooked with excellent sides, followed by buffet desserts. Coffee with homemade biscotti finished off the night to perfection. The waiting staff were warm, welcoming and professional, we could not ask for more. Breakfast arrived to our lovely accomodation served to us by a member of staff, which again was first class. We first dined in Blairscove over 40 years ago when it was run by the previous generation, well the torch has been successfully passed on to the next generation who have kept the Magic going in this beautiful place.
Just superb
We had first visited Blairs Cove over 30 years ago and finally had the opportunity to make a return trip. We stayed two nights in the Loft and it was excellent. The Loft has terrific views from its large windows, the bed is comfortable and the bathroom has a really good shower. Decor is very tasteful and there is a small well equipped kitchen with good tea and coffee making facilities. The main point of Blairs Cove is of course the restaurant and it was certainly as good as we remembered. Food was wonderful and service friendly and helpful as were everyone we encountered. Definitely worth the journey.
Magical Dining Experience
We have loved coming to Blairs Cove for many years now and enjoy it both as a couple and most recently as a family. It’s such a gorgeous place and a wonderful dining experience which is a must if in West Cork. On arrival, you are welcomed to enjoy a pre-dinner drink while browsing the main course menu. You are then taken into the restaurant with exposed stone walls that is decorated with a lovely mix of vibrant coloured chairs, white clothed tables with fresh flowers and brass candlesticks. A chef takes you to a starter buffet which is laid out on a copper island with a fantastic selection of ceviches, cured salmon, terrines, pâtés, salads and oysters to mention a few and you get to have a little of everything. Once you finish your starter, your main arrives and we opted on this occasion for the 20oz sharing beef for 2 on the bone which came with huge onion rings and what I can only describe as doorstep, chunky chips! It was cooked on the open fire overlooking the restaurant and it was to die for. The pièce de résistance is the dessert table which has a magical selection of butterscotch mousse, chocolate tart, poached meringue with crème anglaise, fresh fruits salads and much more. It was our children’s first time and they really enjoyed it, especially the piano player who subtly played beauty and the beast for the younger audience. We had such a lovely experience, one to remember!
the most magical day
We got married in Blairscove last September and the whole experience exceeded anything we could have wished for. From the moment we got in touch with Ann and Woody we knew that we had made the right choice - the warm welcome we received made us feel instantly like old friends. The whole planning process was seamless thanks to Ann, who helped us every step of the way and was available to answer any question we had. She was mindful of small details that made a huge impact for us, and she made us feel special and valued! The whole team went above and beyond on the actual day of the wedding. The atmosphere they created was exactly what we had hoped - warm, inviting, and relaxed. The food was exquisite, and the drinks reception was magic! The whole day went off without a hitch. Ann and Woody, and their entire team, are professionals in every aspect of the word. They are easy going, friendly, and they really know how to throw a party. The grounds are beautiful and the interior is fabulous too. It really was the best day ever, and we cannot thank Ann, Woody, and the whole team enough!
this review is long overdue as I have been here many times
this review is long overdue as I have been here many times and have never been disappointed and always delighted. west cork is laid back and casual and being at the restaurant here transports me to an elegant setting and experience ( but not pretentious) with exceptional food. I love their service model --guests are seated in a front room where cocktails are served and menus are offered for review. you are then ushered to your table after about 20 minutes and then escorted to the appetizer buffet. after the mains, you are escorted again to the dessert buffet--definitely save room for it! all the while, a live piano player is in the main room. we are American but have a home in the area and have been coming to the area for over 30 summers. I've seen adverts for this restaurant in visitor guides so stayed clear from it for many years as I thought it to be a tourist trap. it's not. great for special occasions without breaking the bank (not cheap but good value for the money). my only issue is that in order to get reservation you MUST plan in advance. they keep a wait list if you want, but that is not our cup of tea. not available on my birthday in August so will need to find an alternative. Go! Enjoy! One small issue. On one visit, my partner told the server it was my birthday and he asked for a candle or something and the server did not follow through.
Blair’s cove a not to be missed venue
We had a magical evening at Blair’s cove house with the most amazing staff who went above and beyond to make our experience special . The food and ambiance was incredible and the surrounding grounds are beautiful. *****
