big delicious portions
Amazing service! We sat at the bar and had kevin. I saw a review saying this was expensive but the portions are so big. My mom & i shared a lunch plate. Food was great, Cesar was AMAZING.

Highly recommended while visiting Maryland. The food was delicious! It is family style so the orders are large enough to share with others. The cost for the meals were reasonable and we were able to get a taste of everything without wasting food.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Group Lunch Spot
I booked a group lunch for 60 people this week and everything went great. When I booked I was told that if anyone left hungry then something was wrong and that could not be more true. It is SO MUCH food! My group was very happy. They raved about the Chicken Parm, so definitely get that as part of your meal.
Be the first to ReplyDecent Italian
Decent food, expensive but not outrageously so, good service, nice atmosphere, not too busy or noisy on a Wednesday night. Dinner for three (mountainous fried calamari appetizer, mixed seafood over linguine and veal marsala--plenty of leftovers) plus drinks was $250 before tip.

My husband and I dined at Carmines for an early Valentine’s Day treat. The meal was absolutely delicious. Our server Makayla was fast, kind and efficient. Carmine’s is spacious and well decorated. The restaurant is always spotless. We drive a total of three hours just to dine there. The meals are served family style. We love the tender large appetizing meatballs with angel hair pasta and marinara sauce. They just melt in your mouth. The meals are so fantastic we always order extra take out meals. The managers are pleasant and always acknowledge their customers. Our all time favorite Italian restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyEXPENSIVE TOURIST TRAP
Don’t normally write 1-2 star reviews because I was born into a family of small Business owners and I know the reality and struggles of owning such a business, however I cannot let this Corporate chain continue to get away with robbing their customers. It’s funny because I have a pal who works on Wall Street in New York and he has said the same things about this place. It is horrible and an expensive tourist trap in every sense. Also the waiters and staff are dismissive and rude, none of them seem trained in hospitality or restaurant industry. One thing is having bad food. Another is having horrible service and horrible attitude. Had to beg the waiters for water and then got attitude from the waiter when he complained about a salad bowl with iceberg lettuce.. said that was the standard. Unbelievable, then they also serve wine in glasses designed for water. Bread was hard and stale, like it had been out before. Can’t make it up. STAY AWAY!!! Major waste of money.
Be the first to ReplySub par. Food was not good.
My two kids and I came here for dinner after the Washington Capitals game. The waiter was friendly, courtesy amd professional. The food was sub par. The Caeser salad was extremely salty to the point you couldn’t eat it. Why the chef added so much salt on top of the dressing is beyind me but we ate it. I complained to the waiter about this. Our chicken parm plate was huge but unimpressive. Low quality cheese on top and the chicken tasted like it was reheated. Either it didnt taste right or thats how chicken parm is in DC. We are from NY and know what a good chicken parm tatstes like. The rigatoni marinara awful. Ive been to many Carmines where the food haa been exceptional but here it didn’t match up. It was bad but we ate it because qe were hungry. The GM’s and managers sit around doing nothing other than observe. Suggestion: tell your chefa to better prepare their food for the prices they are charging. Maybe it was a bad evening who knows ? Management /ownership should pay a visit to the kitchen and improve. Do not recommend DC Carmine.

The service was mediocre. We had a reservation and waited to be seated. The food was marginal. We ordered caprese salad and were told it consisted of lettuce, tomato, basil, tomato and mozarella. It was drenched in oil and contained a chopped up red onion to which I'm allergic. The shrimp dish was good not great. Waiter was nice but disappeared for quite a while so we couldn't get our check. I'd never go back and would tell others not to waste their time. No prices listed either!

Me & my wife discovered this restaurant. Long story short, the food was great & the service was wonderful. Highly recommended in my opinion!
Be the first to ReplyEverything was perfect!
I took a group of 25 seniors to Carmines as a special holiday treat! We were treated very special. Our server was on top of his game. The food came out in perfect timing and it was superb! We had to order from a special menu because of our size but they gave us plenty of choices. It was a bit pricey but we got more food than any of us could eat so they gave us plenty of take away containers to take it all back home with us. Everyone said they had a great time and the food was wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyAwful service right from the start
Didn’t even get to eat the food. I called at noon and told that reservations were not need and walk ins were welcome. When I get there at 6p ( will to wait if necessary) we were told the next table won’t be until 930p and they took all the walk ins they were going to talk already…. Then we were given a blank stare and ignored by the 3 ladies at the front desk who were too busy with their own conversation.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, slow service
Food was excellent. Service was not. It took a full hour from the time we sat down to our waiter bringing our drinks. It was really busy and I’m sure they are short staffed like so many, but then they shouldn’t seat a full restaurant if they can’t provide appropriate service. Would skip next trip.

I am late 40's and a foody, I can be a tough critic. I first ate at Carmine's in NYC in 2009. I went back with a group of friends 2 years later. I explained to my friends that there Chicken Marsala had ruined it for me, because no matter where I go no other restaurants' can compare. I recently went to D.C. for business and was very surprised when I was looking at restaurants that Carmine's popped up. I took my 10 yr old and a friend I met, I was worried that I had talked it up so much, she would be disappointed. She oohed and awed like I did! You just cannot order wrong or go wrong at all at a Carmines's! The only thing to be careful of is the ginormous portions. Magnificent!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Italian family style resturant
This was a great Italian resturant but make sure you go with at least a couple of people because they only serve large portions that serve 2 -4 people. Service was great and food was good.

This is a very nice place to take a loved one or good friends to dinner the tables are kind of too close like a China get as many people in Arizona's but I'll than that the food is very good everybody Knowledgeable and friendly But when people walk by your chair will get bumped too many tables
Be the first to ReplyWWS Christmas Party
Our international women's conference booked this venue for our partners holiday party. It was phenomenal from the location (a room to ourselves) to the waiter to the food. Everything was outstanding! Our guest were very happy with the menu we selected. The food was presented well and delicious! We were even able to take photos with each of our guest at the beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby. It was affordable and excellent. We will dine there again!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Carmine’s was one of our favorite restaurants when we visited DC and was our go-to when we met friends. My last visit was an utter disappointment. There were 3 of us in the almost empty restaurant, but the service was lacking, to say the least. Even the food had gone downhill, compared to the last time we were there. There was nothing special, as it had always been. When we asked for bread, at first we were told it wasn’t offered, then were given a basket of stale slices. The old bread basket that was served was gone, and when asked, we were told it was corporate that did it. When I returned home, I called corporate, AliCart Restaurant Group. I’ve left 2 messages, without a reply. Shows me how valued I am, or was, as a customer.
Be the first to ReplyPushed out after paying $1000 dollar bill.
Was visiting Washington DC because the company that I work for had been chosen to haul the National Capitol Christmas Tree. Our Company Vice President, myself, and a group of colleagues had chosen Carmines to celebrate the successes of the Tree Delivery and Lighting on this occasion. The dinner had gone well, until the check was paid. At 10:09PM the restaurant manger, Benson, walked through the restaurant and shouted “Doors locked in 5 minutes” Now I’m upset. Our VP just dropped $1000 dollars, and immediately after the bill is paid and 9 minutes after closing you’re kicking us out without the decency of a private conversation? We were not rude, we were not loud. I think we deserved a private request to vacate the restaurant. Of all the eating establishments in DC, we chose Carmines for a wonderful Italian Meal and celebration. This was a mistake that you can guarantee will never happen again. Sincerely, Disappointed
Be the first to ReplyItalian food perfect for large groups
Came here for a business dinner with a large group. I quickly learned that they serve large plates that serve two to four people, as they are meant to be shared. I had fun combining salad, pasta, and appetizer orders with my colleagues. I would definitely come back as I found the prices reasonable, the service good, and the ambience fun.

My husband and I dine frequently at the different Carmine’s restaurant’s locations. ( that is within a reasonable driving distance) We drove over three hours to dine at this location. I always make reservations as they are always filled with dinners. The restaurant has a warm and friendly old world Italian decor. Upon entering you are greeted by a lovely Hostess and often a restaurant Manager. The Hostess, Servers and Manager are a class act. The service is quick, friendly and efficient. Managers and the Staff makes you feel special and appreciated. They remember you and offer the best food with great personalize service. Our meal was outstanding. The angel hair pasta with big delicious tender meatballs is unbelievable. We enjoyed it so much. The ice tea is a special blend and it the best I have ever been served. Our order started with splitting a lunch size steak sub with cheese. This is not just an ordinarily steak sub it is extraordinary. (served with a small salad) Our next entree was the dinner portion of the famous delicious tender meatballs and pasta. My mouth is watering thinking about it. I saved room for the light scrumptious Cheesecake. The Cheesecake is Carmine’s own recipe. Our families agreed that is the best we have ever tasted. We had a wonderful relaxing meal and we brought food home to enjoy the next day. Try it. You will also because a faithful Carmine’s diner.
Be the first to ReplyInflexible portion sizes
Not a good spot for couples. Forced to buy family sized meals. No other options. Therefore you have to eat the same meal rather than choose individually. So much waste. Not flexible. Would only recommend for big groups.
Be the first to ReplyNot bad
We had the ravioli which was very good. Portions are family style and there was plenty for 3 adults. Kids got pizza which they really liked
Be the first to ReplyTerrible food
We were with a group and ordered several items off the menu I tasted several dishes. The only dish that came close to being good was the wings. The shrimp scampi was bland, they didn’t have the ingredients for a requested lobster dish on the menu. They are heavy with the pasta to cover up the bland food. I don’t recommend!!!!
Be the first to ReplyA memorable experience!
Our visit was wonderful. Carmine’s
staff have great customer service skills. The hostess to our server was wonderful. We ordered a variety of items from the menu. They were all prepared perfectly. The steak sub and salad is absolutely delightful.
My husband and I split that meal. Our next meal ordered was the meatballs and angel hair with extra sauce. The meatballs just melt in your mouth. They are so tender and delicious. The bread was so fresh and yummy. The ice tea is one of the best ice tea around. I always say “if the ice tea isn’t good it is usually down hill from there.” We ordered chocolate cannolis for dessert with pistachio nuts on the ends. I could only eat one. ( so the rest goes home to enjoy later) We always bring a cooler because we order another meal to take home. The restaurant is beautiful and very clean. They observed and implement the Covid-19 codes. Parking is a breeze. You park around the block and take the elevator to the restaurant. A
memorable dining experience.
Good Italian - Entrees for Four
This was good Italian. Three out of four have gluten allergy and they had a fairly good menu. All dishes are made for four people so be aware that it’s a lot of food meant for sharing. You can not order individual dishes. Wings were a huge hit as was the Caprese salad. We had two gluten free pasta O’Shea that were tasty. We had desserts - they were very good! They celebrated our daughter well for her 16th birthday!
