Duck City Bistro Rock Island Reviews from The Last Year
World class food with great ambience and excellent service.
We have been eating here since it first opened and have yet to be disappointed.
Highly recommended
We enjoyed our visit a lot. Chef met at door and showed the food they offer. Excellent food and nice ambience. Highly recommended!
Quad Gem
Love this place! The chef greets you and announces the specials. Service is as exceptional as the food. Every detail matters.
What an absolutely amazing experience! We are French and it
What an absolutely amazing experience! We are French and it was very comparable to French dining (albeit the portions were a lot bigger ). The owner/chef was friendly and stopped by many times to chat with us. (We had to sit at the bar as we didn't have reservations. I would suggest making one ahead of time). We will be back at Christmas time for the cassoulet!
Quite possibly the best restaurant west of St Charles.
Amazing menu and service. Got there at 5pm, great display of food. Fairly quiet restaurant, the bill was very reasonable. Highly recommended!
Best restaurant in the quad cities
Chef Jeremy and his restaurant never disappoint. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the food is excellent, and the staff are very welcoming. It's my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend going there for dinner, drinks, or an appetizer.

Want to feel like you're dinning in a big city? Go to Duck City Bistro...this is a dinning experience unlike any other restaurant in the Quad Cities!
Me and my husband continue to come to Duck City Bistro each
Me and my husband continue to come to Duck City Bistro each year for our wedding anniversary. We've also taken our mothers here for birthdays & Mother's Day. The new york strip is one of the best I've ever had, and they cook it perfectly medium rare each time I've ordered it. My husband has previously ordered the stuffed pork chop (which is HUGE) numerous times and he's also tried the beef wellington which was a special item at the time and he also loved. The brie cheese risotto that comes with the NY strip is so good and so is the special brown sauce that they put with it. The most recent meal we ate here, my husband got a bottled beer and I had two cosmopolitans. (which were a bit overpriced considering the serving size and alcohol content IMO, we'll probably skip getting alcoholic beverages in the future)- we also got NY strip steak and beef wellington (along with complimentary house salads and fresh home made bread with butter and 2 complimentary chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal) and our total bill was $193. We've easily spent around $130 eating at places like Red Lobster in the past. So, to eat at a cozy place like Duck City; who has excellent, speedy and attentive service- is worth the price to me. The interior is intimate, cozy, dimly lit and they're usually playing nice jazz music like Frank Sinatra. Very romantic for an anniversary dinner and a fun place to bring friends and family who are looking for a new dining experience. Chef Jeremy is extremely passionate about the food combinations that he comes up with and puts on a bit of a show to newcomers while presenting the current menu of the night. Both of our mothers found it to be very entertaining and exciting when we brought them. Overall- I'd recommend to anyone who's looking to try something new. It's also in a great location if you're planning on a night out in downtown Davenport.
Great Experience! Staff and Executive Chef, Chef Charles
Great Experience! Staff and Executive Chef, Chef Charles make you feel at home. Food is over the top wonderful. His passion for food and the experience shine though. I will be back.
I have never had a better experience.
The shrimp was the freshest I could find in the Midwest. I lived in the south and have had the luxury of having some very fresh seafood. I would definitely recommend duck city to anyone who wants a special culinary experience!!! You will not regret it!
So let me start by saying this is a fun restaurant.
Intimate. Crowded and loud but in a fun way. I am dining by myself with no reservations so I got a seat at the corner of the bar which really isn't a seat. Barely have any surface to work with. Sandwiched between one couple on first date and another arguing and breaking up. I haven't had a more uncomfortable and stressful meal in a long time. That is not the reason why I knocked the stars off. First I love their lobster bisque and garlic salad. I kind of wish I just got the entree size garlic salad. My main course in Thai chicken with fried rice. Awful. The breading was way too thick and greasy. Chicken was mushy. Fried rice. How did you mess that up? It was awful. I almost want to give the chef some pointers on how to deep fried chicken and how to make proper fried rice. I hate wasting food but I honestly couldn't go beyond a few bites. If you do come, get the garlic salad. And if you see a couple who had too much to drink and is about to break up, don't sit down next to them either.
Not a good experience.
Arrived thursday Nov. 28th expecting a nice dinner. Here is what we got instead. Greeted by the chef (owner?) in a loud demostrative way pointed out the food options for the evening in the glass case. Okay something different. We learned from our server it was her first night. Unfortantely she was not well prepared and it was apparent. We ordered dinner, wine finally arrived, she told us she couldn't find it. She was about to open the bottle, my husband asked to see it first. He saw the Pouilly-Fuisse we ordered was exchaged with a different white wine (clearly not the same type). We asked the server who said, we are out of that wine and now serving this one. We asked for the wine menu and chose Pinot Gris instead. Our soup choice was mediocre at best. Neither of us finished it. Very shortly after the main course - the salmon special was served. My fish had a 'fishy bland taste' stacked high with fried onions. The onions were tasty, but somewhat overwhelming the dish. We shared the same opinion an average dinner, clearly not outstanding. We finished as much of the dinner as we chose, with plates not cleared, about 2/3rds of the bottle of wine to finished, our server presented us with our bill, and said 'no hurry'. That was too much for me, I said, please clear the table, we wish to finish our wine and then be preseneted with the bill. She did comply (unhappily). Ready to pay the bill and here was another surprise! Salmon $35.95 (expected) 2 soups of the day $12.00 (not expected - thought it was included with the dinner). Wine (on menu $46.00 on bill $57.00 My husband asked the server about the soup being charged extra, and the higher cost for the wine). She said that is how it 'rung up'. Fortuntately, she said she would talk with the manager, returned with new bill (no charge for the soup and corrected price for the wine). The environment was hectic, servers seemed stressed, when leaving the Chef said hope you enjoyed the meal, not waiting for our response. We definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
The food never disappoints here.
They are always busy and never sacrifice food quality. Very time I visit from NY it's a must stop place for me! The owner is awesome and super friendly. It's a great little place inside, gives you the high end food quality with a comfortable welcoming feel inside. People say it's expensive, and for the area it may be but I think it's worth every penny! Don't miss out on this place, you will regret it!
Awesome experience
Celebrating an anniversary at Duck City Bistro was fabulous. This was our first time at Duck City, but certainly not our last. The service was excellent from start to finish. We had an introduction to all of the entree choices for the evening before being seated as well as appetizers. Once at our table, the wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided excellent and timely service. The food was the best we have had in the Quad Cities. My wife had duck confit and I had osso bucco. I am looking forward to our next dinner at Duck City Bistro.
Another knock it out of the park night for Duck City
Another knock it out of the park night for Duck City Bistro!!! Our waiter had only been there for 7 months but handled himself like a seasoned veteran!! When we arrived there were plenty of tables which I totally understood. (530 on a Wednesday) By the time we left, it was packed!!! There is a reason why this occurred on a random Wednesday night. Do yourself a favor and see what all the hype is about! You won't be disappointed!!!
Quirky & Delicious
Quirky spot with delicious food. When entering the restaurant for our reservation, we were greeted by the chef who boisterously announced the menu of the night, pointing out live examples of each entree. Definitely a Theater Major before Chef School. The food was delicious and plentiful. Service was great. The atmosphere was casual and fun. We were even placed at the "gangster" table which had a plastic pistol hidden under the table. All in all an outstanding experience! Our bellies were full of good food and we had a fun, enjoyable night. Would definitely recommend Duck City Bistro for a night out and we will return.
Wonderful experience
Service was excellent, food was top notch and what a helpful place. We were going across the street to the Adler for a event and they put our leftovers in containers and kept them for us and let us pick them up after the show. To me that was going above and beyond.
Disappointed... Not What It Used To Be
I have been going to Duck City for over 20 years and have noticed a decline in the quality of flavors of the food and the removal of the menus with prices. The service has always been spot on and was the night we were there. I made the reservations well in advance and made them aware it was for a special occasion. I also requested a certain table. When we arrived we were crammed in the aisle where there was clearly not enough room for the four of us (not the requested table). I was the one that took the seat that was sticking out and had a traffic jam of waitstaff passing behind be the entire night. It was basically a "one way" path through the crammed tables coming from the back by where waitstaff were picking up the food and the rest of the restaurant with waitstaff waiting at each end for their turn and me partially blocking their way. Just me. They did not over book any other of the 4 top tables. Those were just couples romantically nestled against the wall. The salads came and they were so spicy they were inedible. Why would salad be spicy? Not one of us could eat it. The entrees were fine. But just fine. For a while there they did have menus with prices for everything except the specials in the case. Based on the number of complaints about no prices on the menus, they may want to think about bringing those other menus back. I wish Chef Jeremy nothing but the best and hope to return to Duck City when things are running a little better.
All flash, no substance with a dash of drunks
This restaurant puts on a good appearance as you walk in … chefs hats, Paris waiter aprons and bow ties, a dramatic presentation of entrees in a display case (honestly they all looked awful…I ordered something you didn’t display as a result, chef). The menu with its $80 steaks makes you think the quality of food will match the prices. But the staff training is awful and the food was hit or miss. READ THE OTHER ONE STAR REVIEWS…Everything they experienced was true for us too. What we liked: a good spinach salad, one good cocktail, the bread, the roasted garlic that came with the bread. What we didn’t like: the other bad cocktail, the Thai chicken (two skewers of deep fried non-seasoned chicken atop decent fried rice with a bland peanut sauce), the Caesar salad that Caesar would not recognize. But most of all, the young server who didn’t know to serve from the right and clear from the left. Instead he plopped everything down in one spot, meaning he SHOVED aside whatever plate was in front of us. He argued with us about the order we requested our dishes. One entree came out five minutes before the other. Finally, let’s get to the eight drunken loud bigots who were the only other diners in our area. I won’t blame the restaurant on them except to note that surely the staff knew these people were drunk and loud before they seated us, and they still made the decision to seat us near them.
Don’t miss Duck City when you’re in Davenport
This wonderful place gets five stars. The moment we arrived, 40 minutes before they opened, the chef welcomed us with open arms and cocktails. Cudos to Holly for the excellent crafted cocktails and Carlos for the outstanding service. Enjoyed the warm ambience, fresh-baked bread with garlic and butter, and Frank Sinatra, et al tunes. Started with the HUGE shrimp cocktail with enough horseradish to let you know you’re eating the real deal. Lobster bisque had a nice sherry finish. House-smoked and stuffed pork chop was the best we’ve ever had. Nightly halibut special was super fresh with a delightful pomegranate beurre blanc sauce. Topped it off with homemade bourbon pecan pie. A night to remember…and one not to miss next time you visit Davenport.
Family dinner.
This place has the best of everything. Great food, service, and chief. If you want to go to an entertaining dining experience, go to Duck City.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
