Finally got the chance to visit this Michelin bib recognized Filipino restaurant in Oakland. It's located in a small plaza in a little corner, there's parking in it but there's also street parking. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and I had to drive around twice, it's next to a taqueria and a lot of us went into the wrong spot. It's cute and aesthetic inside with tons of plants and Filipino decor. We were a party of 5 but they don't seat you until your entire party is there so I sat at the bar when we all slowly started arriving. I asked what was the most popular cocktail and the bartender said blow the whistle and fresh off boat. I started off with the Feelin myself (mescal, guava, grapefruit, and fino), because I like mescal, then blow the whistle (rum, tamarind, chili liqueur, and lime). And my friends got beers and a michelada. We got some appetizers (pulutan (snacks for drinking in Tagalog)) the pork lumpia and lechon kawali (friend pork belly). Then when our entire party came we all ordered different things, 2 bowls of garlic rice, friend chicken, pork adobo, tortang Talong, Pancit sotanghon, daing na bangus, and the special beef steak. I live and grew up in a Filipino household so I am used to my mom's Filipino cooking so this is like your home cooked meals but a tad bit elevated. I didn't try any dessert but I think this is a good spot if you're looking for some Filipino food or trying it out for the first time.
