Delicious but very loud
Delicious food, very good quality, fresh and tasty cookef, but if you would like to have a conversation with your partner, it is impossible, the music is extremely loud, even if you are 30 cm from your partner you must shout, and we are not deaf. If you would like to see what you eat it would be better to go before 7 pm when the light is turned down.
Uniquely bold with a strong sense of identity.
Stepping in felt surreal and the presentation was everything. Will note that the handle of the faucet fell off when I used it and I had let the staff know. It's a simple grub screw to get it back in place! For such beautiful food and space, that part was quite jarring for me.
Superb food and service
Excellent meal with superb service and great wine. We had booked to go to Aloft in Hobart but they annoyingly ‘dropped us’ so we booked Frank instead and so glad we did. Belly pork and chicken were exceptional.
Wonderful Experience, I Must Come Back!
On Tuesday 26/2 , I dined with my longstanding friends at this establishment. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a gracious hostess who promptly escorted us to a table overlooking the harbour. While the cuisine leaned towards the higher end in terms of pricing, we found it both appetizing and delightful. The hanger steak, chicken, and accompanying vegetable sides were particularly noteworthy, with the cheese empanadas and beef carpaccio standing out as a personal favorite. Despite the bustling ambiance of the restaurant that evening, the service surpassed expectations. The hostess, whom I believe was named Issy, provided thorough and enthusiastic explanations of the menu offerings, demonstrating a profound understanding of the cuisine and menu itself. Her perpetual smile and attentiveness extended to overseeing the well-being of her colleagues. Our waitress ensured our water glasses remained replenished and offered insightful recommendations, such as the roasted oysters, which we wholeheartedly enjoyed. Without hesitation, we anticipate returning, particularly for the exceptional oysters and impeccable service we experienced.

We done here every time we visit Hobart and this restaurant maintains its high standards and quality. We love the grilled chicken, the pork belly and potatoes are a staple we always order. We also enjoyed the strip loin and charred vegetables as well. The wine and drinks menu features Tasmanian beer, wine and spirits. Always an excellent experience and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Check the bill before you pay. They tried to double charge. No apology. Not sure if it was an honest mistake.
Check your bill carefully. Small group for dinner. We had the set menu. We were given the wrong tables bill which was double. After one couple paid we realised their error. NO apology. Just a Oh we we get the right bill. Gotta wonder if it was an honest mistake or just hoping we didn’t catch on. Pretty disappointed. Food was ok. But their attitude about over charging turned me off. So just be careful
Hard to rate - a mixed bag!
Frank has a lovely situation on the waterfront and the interior is spacious and modern. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the food was a little bit of a let down on this occasion. The cured kingfish was warm and tasted one dimensional, even with the added citrus. Oysters were small and vinegarette lacked punchy flavour. The steak was cooked well and had good flavour however lacked seasoning and was room temperature. The chimichurri was a big let down as it was drowned in oil and not fresh. Loved the green bean side and the beetroot with hazelnut was delicious. Sweet potato had the makings of a delicious dish, however was also underseasoned. Chilli margaritas were yum! Overall a mixed bag. We had a lovely time but would be great to have a little more finesse and consistency.
Rip off
Having had a fantastic experience at Porteño in Sydney, another Australian/Argentinian fusion restaurant, I had high hopes of this restaurant in Hobart harbour. Sadly it failed on many counts. I'll list just three for brevity's sake. The service: they're understaffed, and the stress levels are immediately apparent as soon as you enter, from the greeter to the server. Nobody has any time to spend with you, unlike Porteño, and most other good restaurants I've been to in Oz, where the servers will take time to build some rapport by having a chat. I wasn't even offered any water and had to ask for it after my first course had arrived. The young inexperienced server went through the motions when made to, but her impatience was tangible. Getting her attention was hard as she seemed to have blinkers on and didn't look around her tables, most likely due to the stress levels caused by being overworked by management. Towards the end of the meal, she asked me three times if I'd finished, when I clearly hadn't. The hanger steak: it arrived virtually cold, on a cold plate, as others have commented in other reviews. I appreciate steaks need to rest a while after being cooked but the kitchen needs to invest in a plate warmer, and cover the steak while it's resting. Seasoning was also sub par. To their credit, they replaced it when I was asked if it was okay, but the substitute wasn't much different. The cutlery: in terms of shape, the steak knives are imitations of what you'd get in Argentina but they are serrated, rather than clean edged, so they tear the meat rather than slicing it, another complaint in the comments that hasn't been acted on. My conclusion from this is, don't eat in the harbour area. Due to the location and the high rents involved, the owners are cutting their overheads by understaffing and cutting corners wherever they can. I could go on, but being negative really isn't my thing, unless driven to it. If you want to read about a real steak restaurant, search for 'Gannet39 Buenos Aires' or even 'Gannet39 Surry Hills'. Yes it's my travel blog, but it's an unpaid and impartial diary, so you can get my honest opinions. I'll happily incorporate the management's response, if any, and will reply to it on there. Hope the management will finally listen to the repeated criticisims from myelf and many others, but I think that's very unlikely as they're obviously all about the money and couldn't give a fig about their customers. Service could be better
Very tasty food at Franks, but commited the cardinal sin of bringing the mains well before the side dishes. The result was we some of us had virtually finshed the mains whilst others watched theirs get cold. Staff quite dismissive about it. Also hate it when plates are cleared when others in the party are still eating - poor practice. Shame considering the price.
Very good but disappointing
Delicious veges, beetroot salad, octopus, steak and wine. Great service but… unfortunately the friendly waiter spilt the sauces on the floor which went over my white dress and jacket. We were very nice about it and he quickly brought us soda water. When we departed, the maitre’d, aware of the situation did not ask us about our meal or experience and did not acknowledge our situation. She could have at least given us a wee discount or a dry cleaning offer or offered us a drink. But nothing! It’s all about recovery if you know about great customer service. This tainted our evening. I still have stains on my jacket, which I hope I can get out.
Lackluster.
If you like to pay top dollar for ok food and below average service this is the place to be! Absolutely atrocious mark up on alcohol. $16 for a can of basic cider/beer? Yikes! No thanks. The icing on the cake is sitting at the table for half an hour with 6 of your friends while the staff are having a bubbles at the bar, then they look annoyed when someone decides to walk up and ask for a beer "we'll come to you" they say. Ummm what time? Do yourself a favor and take yourself to one of the other amazing places in Hobart, who have awesome food and are so much more welcoming.
Deliciously superb
Amazing food, great waitstaff and moody surrounds. A great position, right near the wharf. The wagu beef was sensational and there was a great choice of local wines. Jazz, the young waitress was incredible. A must in Hobart.

Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
