Heirloom at The St. Laurent Asbury Park Reviews from The Last Year
Wonderful Wedding
My son’s wedding (approximately 80 people) was held on a sunny Saturday in May. The St. Laurent and Heirloom Kitchen could not have been more perfect hosts. My son and his bride are true foodies and created a menu that was prepared to perfection. The food was presented to the guests with butler service for four continuous hours. Lobster Rolls, Steak Tartar, Foie Gras Donuts, Duck Confit Triangles, stuffed Zucchini Blossoms, Tuna Tacos, grilled Lamb Chops with Fig Sauce, and Cream Puffs for dessert. The servers, table clearers, bartenders, and kitchen staff were professional, attentive and unobtrusive…the perfect combination. The butler service made it possible for the guests to mingle with one another without feeling confined to a table. Missing (but not missing) a champaign toast, salad with dinner, and a wedding cake. I bow to my son and his bride, I would not have changed a thing.
I didn't want to leave this review on yelp or Google
I didn't want to leave this review on yelp or Google because I have a deep respect for the culinary arts and I understand the challenges for small businesses and how hard everyone works. I did email privately and never got a response. After having an amazing dining experience last week at Lita (sister restaurant), I decided we should celebrate my wife's birthday at Heirloom at the St. Laurent. What an absolute let down to say the least. I wanted to order a second order of bread and the waiter said he did not think it was possible but he would check. I asked again 20 minutes later when our second course came out, and I was told no. The bread is the only thing you can order on the menu. If there is something on the menu to order and I want to order multiple orders of it, it should not be a problem. Make enough or have enough bread for the night. You have no issue charging what you do for such small portions, at least let your customers order more if they want. I spent $500 lon dinner and drinks for the two of us and couldn't put in a second order of $15 bread? Have no issue spending the money but it should not be an issue if I want to order a second. I also literally left there starving and went for a burger. Again, the money is not the issue - but the portion size wouldn't fill any adult let alone a child. Growing up in NYC and eating at fine establishments I understand good experiences and quality food come at a price. This restaurant is a total let down to say the least. Would have also liked a candle for my wife's bday dessert as well after repeatedly telling them it was her birthday. So close to $1k over dinner at your restaurants the last 2 weeks and now I'm questioning whether I'd ever go back. Thanks
Hard to give this review.
Been a couple times to the bar in front for live music. Very nice ambience, kind of a speakeasy vibe. It's a total change from Hotel Tides a few years back which now seems an eternity. Recently attended a promotional event for their supposedly signature Pilsner beer. Assumed there was a complimentary sampling being they were promoting the launch, but wasn't. Gave my credit card because the bartender was looking for my rsvp and couldn't spell my name. Some questionable charging tactics one should be aware of. Received one charge for a drink, then four hours later received another charge. I wasn't even there that long. I followed up and questioned a manager for an explanation (I had nothing better to do the next day lol). He had to go look into it and came back with a kind of shady answer if you ask me. The drink cost more than the first charge so they upped it later and then added an additional 20% automatic gratuity. Giving a grand total for the can of beer to $15.00. While I enjoyed the beer, it had a nice taste, the experience soured it.
I went from disappointment to utter delight as I was
I went from disappointment to utter delight as I was informed by my waitress Anna that there was no duck available, but was informed that their order had arrived during our meal and I was offered the ability to order a wonderful duck experience. What made this experience even more special was Chef Mike had informed Amanda the manager that he would send a fabulous rabbit and pasta appetizer as a thank you for our patience in waiting for the duck meal. I would highly recommend for the service experience itself, but the added culinary experience put it over the top. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience this evening!!
The best service I have experienced in a long time,
The best service I have experienced in a long time, including at great restaurants in Boston and New York. The ambience and aesthetic are stunning, especially given that it's in a suburban neighborhood in a small town in New Jersey. The food was equally stunning. I highly recommend, though I hesitate to, given how hard it is to get a table as it is.
Have to say I was excited to take my family for my wife's
Have to say I was excited to take my family for my wife's birthday as we have been to their other Heirloom in Old Bridge. But was disappointed several times during the evening. Server was great ! The appetizers were excellent. from the Scallop Crudo to the Octopus to the loaded potato to the rabbit. All on the mark. Then the dive off the cliff happened. It pains me to write it like this but they need to fix this as I won't be back especially at the $1,000 it cost me for 5. Main courses I was thinking about the duck for a week because it was absolutely amazing at their other restaurant. Plate very dull looking and the 2 tablespoons of rice and 2 microscopic dots of some sauce did not make it through 1 breast never mine 2. Lamb was the same they need to look at the pics on their site and say to themselves does it look like that going out to the table. The Tile fish was great my guests said both visually and taste. The lamb was also take it or leave it remember people that order lamb want it to taste like lamb not beef. . Then on to dessert. Here is where it hits hard. Given my wife was a pastry chef who worked at Le Cirque for Jacques Torres we live for the end of the meal. If we could have passed we should have. I had the Cider Poached Apple. I know I'm harsh but a 5 year old could have made that and it looked like it with nether any technique or originality, The Blood Orange Posset was never finished, and their coconut cake that looked like they only had one crumbled slice left so they dropped it on the plate with 3 dollops of a sauce on the cake not even on the plate to make it festive looking. The only thing that was enjoyed by the lucky person at the table was the Elder flower Sunday. It pains me to write this but I hope they read it. Server was great as I said, Atmosphere was good but almost to loud. Bread was great but 15$ for a muffin size piece of bread seems a bit much don't you think. But that butter that went with it was to die for. So David Viana PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get this under control. I'm a big fan just not here and won't be back. as I don't want to spend that kind of money to have to write another review like this.
We enjoyed a really nice night at Hierloom at The St.
Laurent last night! We arrived at prime time on Saturday night at 8pm and the restaurant was buzzing. It's a very cool beachy vibe and very LOUD inside. So if you're looking for a quiet romantic place, move on. If you're looking for an inventive, delicious $89 prix fix 3 course meal, with very attentive service, you've found a great spot! You definitely need a reservation. Our reservation was booked weeks in advanced so I can only imagine the Summer dates are a hot commodity in season. Plan ahead! This restaurant created by Heirloom Kitchen of Old Bridge's, Chef David Viana, so you IYKYK and he does not disappoint here. The ambiance is open, airy and beachy with a great interior design. The dishes, glassware and place settings are also well appointed and add to the dining experience. Heirloom at The St Laurent use the freshest local ingredients for New American dining with a cool open kitchen atmosphere. In the warmer months it probably gets a whole different vibe with the big garage doors that look like they're ready to open up and let the ocean breezes in. My husband and I loved our 3 course prix fix dinners. Our server Suzanne was very attentive and helpful throughout the evening. This was an elevated dining experience with really inventive dishes that are bursting with flavors and really fresh ingredients. There is also a full bar with specialty cocktails and wine selection. I look forward to my next visit!
NYC vibe doesn't work in North Asbury.
The bartender is excellent but he should be working in Tribeca and not on a side street in Asbury Park. Horrendous racist music is playing throughout the bar and restaurant. Not my kind of place. Oh and by the way, cash isn't welcome but a 20% tip is included for your taking

At Heirloom, half our party's first and second courses were PROHIBITIVELY salty. They also put in the wrong order for one of our desserts. However, somehow the absolute worst part of the evening was as we were having our desserts (the chef and another employee???) decided to start having a push up contest on the restaurant floor?!???!?????? It's just... this is a $150 per person meal. Maybe if the cocktails had been better or we had eaten two courses that weren't mostly salt, we may not have been as turned off?! The 20% tip is charged regardless of the experience. At the very least, it seemed as though some of the staff was taking advantage of not needing to do their jobs that well. This was a huge bummer, I wish it hadn't sucked... but it really, really did.
Pretty, pretty, pretty, bad
Ugh. I had been extremely excited to eat here. Sadly, it was one of the most disappointing experiences my friends and I have had in a long time. We actually started off in the cocktail lounge and of two of us, one of our drinks was extremely bad (a Pisco Sour. Granted, it wasn’t on the menu, but it was the server that said they could make me one??? I only mentioned it to name drinks I normally ordered!!!). The scallop, appetizer and tile fish entrée were delicious.
Dessert was a complete disappointment. The service was formal, but friendly. The music was so loud that the enormous staff had to yell to one another to be heard. Between the yelling staff and the loud music. We were unable to have a conversation at the table. I was very disappointed
Heirloom is where we head for our celebrations.
It's got a cool, modern vibe that we enjoy. The tasting menu is our usual go-to, and it's consistently delicious. Plus, the service is top-notch every time.
another phenomenal dining experience! this is the sister
another phenomenal dining experience! this is the sister restaurant of Heirloom kitchen and Lita. the overall ambiance of the restaurant and interior decor is beautiful . it has an open kitchen concept so you can see the dishes being made and the chef at work. it's pre-fixe menu and I feel like you get great portion size and array of dishes. the presentation of the dishes alone are a work of art. and the quality of the food is exceptional. we opted in to start with the Milk Bun as the bread starter and we will be thinking of this bread for years to come, just wow! we had the potato skins, broccoli cavatelli, duck, halibut, chocolate flan and crumb cake. the halibut was so flaky, it was delicious. a wonderful, intimate experience and will be coming again!

Heirloom represents the new gastronomic hot spots of the Asbury Park area. We just had to try it out, and with a reservation open for the kitchen high tops, I couldn't pass it up! The staff is very engaging, knowledgeable, and well versed in the language of food and how each dish is prepared. I was impressed; our server, chef, and water person all knew the details of the meals! The food was delicious, well- balanced, and flavorful without out being overbearinging. There were a few complete misses, in my opinion, but it only showed the chefs desire to be bold and adventurous, who could blame them
Date Night !
We planned a date night out at Heirloom prior to Sea , Hear and Now and , we were not disappointed . Keep in mind Heirloom is pricey but , a good example of you get what you pay for . We arrived early and had great cocktails in their lounge before being seated . We shared the burrata app which was light and tasty , for dinner we got the ribeye for 2 , cooked perfectly and delicious , it came with a lettuce and pickled radish salad and mushroom risotto , perfect compliments . After dinner we had expresso martinis (boozy) to finish off what was an excellent date night .
Nice Fine Dining
Found heirloom by chance when looking for a decent place to eat on way back to SI from Forked River. Loved the simplicity of the menu and attractive cost. My partner is hearing impaired and the wait staff were very accommodating to ensue we were seated away from the main noise if the restaurant and reduced the music a little too. Great ambiance to the place so off to a good start. Both first courses (octopus and scallop) were delicious. Great flavour combinations and not overly fussy. For entree we tried the lamb and the Black Bass .. again great flavour combinations, served hot and presented well. Desert was shared .. loved the Parmesan crisp with the dark chocolate and the deconstructed baklava was an absolute treat.. especially the pistachio ice cream. Considering the other establishments in the error pertaining to offer fine dining -which is usually not the case and just overpriced fare to a captive audience - I would have to say that outside of Manhattan this is one off the best food experiences I have had in the 5 years I’ve lived here!! Well done chef and well done staff .. we will be back very soon. As a side note the cocktails were very good and not overly fussy !!
Expensive disappointment
While ambitious to offer high end fine dining, plates were successful only in plating. Even then with so many tweezered ingredients they didn’t arrive hot. Best were apps Cavatelli lamb ragu, Shrimp grits. Entrée of Duck was only Main of 4 we enjoyed. Best dessert was Pistachio ice cream. Service was friendly. Music was too loud and fought against conversation. Dinner for 4 with 3 drinks and a most modest bottle was $609 including mandatory 20% service. Wouldn’t go back if comped. Feel sorry for all the hard work and investment.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
