Lo Scoglio Nerano Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious food and unreal views
Visited this restaurant twice during our stay in the region. Was a fabulous experience both times. Seafood, appetisers and of course, the spaghetti alle zuchinne, were all amazing. The famous spaghetti alle zuchinne was creamier and richer than I was expecting. Delicious. View and atmosphere was fantastic. Had great service both times, unsure what other reviewers were concerned about. Wine list was also impressive. We were recommended a delicious wine thanks to the waiter’s expertise. Would recommend a visit!!
Always a guarantee
We stayed at Tommaso allo Scoglio for two consecutive Sundays and I must say that we ate very well both times. Very fresh fish and for me, who smells raw fish, I have to say that it was perfect. A warranty
Too expensive
Lovely place, friendly staff, more than good service. The quality/price ratio is surprisingly low, not because of the quality which is still medium/high, but because of the costs which are truly excessive. Let's ignore the 18 euros for the mussel pepper, let's close our eyes to the 20 euros for a plate of spaghetti with courgettes and the 28 euros for spaghetti with clams..... but you can't ask for 13 euros for a slice of cake (tiramisu or caprese). I won't go back!
Bad experience
It's very expensive and doesn't correspond to the service or even the quality. I'm never coming back. It just has a beautiful view. Never again
It could have been such a beautiful evening.
Finally found a nice restaurant, right by the sea on a jetty. The ambience appears to be very upscale and a look at the prices on the menu confirm this. And then the food comes 10 minutes after ordering... the fish smells, the squid is almost raw and the steak (we ordered it more than medium rare for our son) is also almost raw. No spices on the food. There was a lack of salt, pepper and spices like paprika and rosemary. In short: there was a lack of love for food. The fries weren't completely cooked through, still tasted raw inside and the salt had been completely omitted here too. The salad and bread were good. So you can only assume that the cook in the kitchen had already finished work. Yes, we complained and shared what we didn't like. Thanks for acknowledging it from the waiter. Conclusion: for 155.00 euros you can only warn about the restaurant!
Trap for tourists
Trap for tourists, little and bad and very expensive, the indecent was achieved with a bottle of wine costing €4 at the supermarket and sold for €28
Great lunch of shared cold seafood salad and seafood pizza.
We found this place while walking from the state museum downhill to the train station. The seafood was very fresh and the seafood pizza cooked in their wood fired brick oven was the best that we had. I would recommend this restaurant.
Lo Scoglio means, 'no problem' in Nerano-ese...
We were looking for a restaurant with a room to celebrate a milestone birthday. Lo Scoglio did not disappoint. We booked directly with the hotel and the accommodations were the most comfortable of any hotel we have stayed at in Italy over 42 years of traveling here. The in room air conditioning made for cozy sleeping, plenty of storage and double paned glass doors leading to the veranda to keep things nice and quiet. Typically beds in 3 and 4 star hotels in Venice, Milan, Bologna, Stressa, Lake Cuomo, even the Hilton property in Rome was a 'tad firm' and have been more like sleeping on box springs. Our bed at Lo Scoglio was quite comfortable a thick foam technology mattress so that no matter which side one sleeps on it is comfortable. This was our first visit to the Amalfi Coast. The scenery is spectacular, if you like sheer cliffs rising from an aqua blue sea. The room included a broad terrace with a view of the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains. We booked our stay for 4 days and nights, just to get a real feel for the place, and we enjoyed three dinners at the restaurant and visited the other restaurants and cafés along the marina for dinner and lunch and each place was well staffed, friendly and prompt, and as any seasoned traveler can attest, the enjoyment of the food is also about the location and expectation. Upon our arrival we were able to join the chef in the kitchen in preparing our rendition of the Spaghetti de Nurano (with zucchini) and I can see why Stanley and his bride were so impressed. Lo Scoglio is indeed a long way to go for simple (but not simplistic) food, but if you can afford to find yourself in this remote part of the world, why not 'do as the Romans do'? It is something one can take home and prepare with ease--once you know how--and savor the memory and the flavor of Massa Lubrense. The service we received was preambled with 'no problem' and indeed there were no problems. The pace of the place is quite serene, it is a family run business and their attention to a no hurries, no worries, attitude it is definitely 'beach o'clock' at Lo Scoglio and the pace suited us just fine. The hotel hired our drivers to and from Napoli (we paid handsomely for them, but to NOT drive to get there was worth every euro). We took a local bus to Sorrento one day totally great, but getting home included hiring a Taxi, but it was an expense well worth it. The last night, having tired of pasta and seafood, we ordered the carne--steaks, filets and were treated to a very nice portion and the red wine recommendation was perfect with our meal. To be sure, this is not 5 star accommodation and I didn't see a Michelin plaque, and they make no pretense about that, but we were prepared to embrace the experience with an open mind and with the help of the wonderful staff, especially Nino, we were treated like stars. I would recommend it as a restaurant with a room as one will not want to navigate the roads after a hearty meal and a bottle of wine. If you go for lunch, leave yourself plenty of daylight to egress from the locale. I think Lo Scoglio may be a bit overwhelmed by the fame of being a favourite of Stanley Tucci, but we would have missed it and a really pleasant time in a place in Italy we never would have visited otherwise.
Wonderful over-the-sea restaurant
We visited Lo Scoglio for a birthday dinner. We aren’t seafood lovers, so ate pasta dishes snd a wonderful fillet steak cooked in balsamic vinegar. Although Stephen Spielberg had eaten at the restaurant the day before and lots of celebrities eat there, we were made to feel like important guests. Thank you x
A long way to good food
Bit of a drive but worth the effort. Great food lovely location. Service could have been better. Main course served before we had finished antipasti and had to ask twice for our wine. Overall recommended
Awesome dinner
I enjoyed my dinner here a couple of nights ago. The service was great, the antipastos we all shared to start were amazing and had a seafood theme. My Nerano pasta was delicious. The ambiance here is very nice.
Magic night
Near the end of our family stay in Nerano we took a table for 9.The weather was perfect and the restaurant lightly populated-mid October is a great time. The special anti pasto enter to share was excellent. My pasta seafood was lovely. And service excellent.I must say the many restaurants in Nerano was a highlight of our stay. And our waiter commented he briefly appeared in the Stanley Tucci video.A lovely night
Beautiful setting, good food, friendly waitstaff.
We were a party of 11, asked for family style apps and dinner which was perfect.
We stopped here for lunch yesterday during an amazing day
We stopped here for lunch yesterday during an amazing day boating with my family to celebrate my wife's 50th. I have heard a lot of great things about this place and it was one of the stops during our Italy trip I was really looking forward to. I made reservations well ahead and mentioned my wife's bday via email. I also mentioned it to the hostess as we were getting seated. The Good -Amazing location with spectacular views. -Great wine list (we had a marvelous bottle of french rose). -Caprese salad was the best I have had in my 2 weeks in Italy. The tomatoes were so good we ordered their "tomato salad" also just to have more of their tomatoes. -Tiramisu desert was also very good, minus the manner in which it was served. - My sons seafood risotto was fresh and full of seafood flavor. The Ok - The menu had "fresh seafood" as an app. This dish is oysters and clams on the half shell. The description is misleading. They were good but a was a miss for my wife who does not eat raw oysters. - The famous zucchini pasta was just ok. pasta cooked very well for sure but the zucchini flavor did not come through at all. it tasted more cheesy than zucchini. I was disappointed in this as perhaps I had wrong expectations of a fresher lighter dish. really nothing special in my view. The Bad - Service sucked!! - Our server was always in a hurry and did not provide great hospitality befitting the reputation and menu cost. He seemed bothered by our questions and not interested in serving us. here is one example of several. My wife nicely asked him to take a photo of our table and I said in a jovial manner that I also want one when the famous zucchini dish comes out. He turns around says "ok we wait till your dish comes out" and simply walks away. Dismissive arrogance at a restaurant is frankly offensive. At the end of the meal we ordered one dessert to share (we were full but wanted to have something sweet for my wife's 50th as no one from the restaurant bothered acknowledging our special occasion). We also ordered coffee and espresso. The table had not be cleared of our plates and the dessert was simply plopped in the middle with zero effort to clear our dirty dishes. No coffee or espresso served! As this was somewhat unpleasant I tracked someone to get rid of our dirty plates so we can enjoy our meal, still no coffee or espresso served! We waited a bit longer and I simply asked for the check and asked him to remove the coffees. When I presented my Am Ex card I was instructed to go inside and pay instead of our sever taking it up himself. Upon checking the bill the coffee and espresso were still on it. As I was paying the 355Euro lunch bill, I tried to explain, nicely, to the woman at the register that I was disappointed that my wife's bday was ignored. She seemed to either not understand or not care. However, there was a different waiter there and he completely got it. He was extremely apologetic and offered to make it right by bringing something out. I appreciated his gesture but told him it was too late and we were on our way out. I know our meal would have been better were he our server. All in all the location is magnificent, but our experience was the opposite of what good hospitality looks like. So if you go there, it's a nice place to chill grab a seat outside, a bottle of wine, definitely the fresh tomatoes. Just don't expect to get good hospitality. Or, perhaps you will be lucky and have the waiter I met at the cash register and have a better experience.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
