Went to mana yesterday. Firstly, the place is beautiful. The decor is impeccable and everything is spotlessly clean. The staff are massively knowledgeable and friendly (and young!) The chefs serve you your food. It was 14 courses and I also had the wine flight. There was a lot of unusual dishes which I really enjoyed for their sense of playfulness but anyone looking for traditional eating will not find it here. The amount of flavour they packed into the food was unbelievable, so powerful it almost tasted fake. The one thing I have to say is that the experience took 3 hours, three hours of eating and by the last three courses I just couldn’t fit anymore in. I missed out on the wine because I had no room left and they left the best till last with the food and drink as well. So that was disappointing. The wine pairing was the best I’ve ever had and can’t be understated. However, I personally think they could serve fewer courses because I left feeling unwell having tried to eat and drink it all. The whole experience, and it is an experience rather than a meal, cost me around £230. It was worth it for the fact that I have never eaten anywhere like it and almost certainly never will again. The head chef Simon had a stern word with a chef/waiter who dropped a fork in the restaurant. I felt bad for him and Simon came across a bit arrogant but perhaps that’s to be expected from a place like this.
