Ohana Seafood Bar and Grill Kihei Reviews from The Last Year
Beach vibe food and drinks, loud music and right by the road.
Food good, relatively fast service at a place with no AC, and free entertainment. Located across the road from the beach, this is a busy place with meals and sandwiches. Early evening is good time to go as it is less busy. That is when the sun is hitting the deck and it will be a bit hot. Prepare to sit inside if you don’t want the sun. Many staff available and some are working - others are anticipating future busy time. Long line to enter as we left. My fish sandwich was good and my husband had the steak kabobs. Music is plenty loud and not conversational friendly. Good beach vibe place for drinks or food. Go for the music, beach vibe and bar type atmosphere. If you want and cool, quiet place to eat look elsewhere. Laid back beach atmosphere for the crowd.
Gem close to Wailea
They really have great food, especially their cubano sandwich and their poke trio. The service was outstanding as well.
Good food
The food here was amazing. They have a long and great happy hour offered. My boyfriend and I got the $5 margarita and didn’t like it that much. However, the other drinks they have might be better.
Good place to eat.
We have eaten here every time we are on Maui. We really enjoy the food. We like the shrimp. The prices are reasonable as well.
Great location, but bad drinks
On the plus side, this is a cute little spot near the beach with excellent servers and good live music. The reason I am giving such a low rating is that the coladas we had for drinks seemed like they were mocktails. There was supposed to be two kinds of rum in them, but neither my partner nor I tasted any alcohol—just seemed like overly sugared water.
Great place for yummy food.
They have live music till 630 so that was a nice treat. Parking is insane in this area so if you have a big car good luck to you. Across the beach so the outside seating was always packed. Speedy service and speedy food prep

Spectacular bar and grill and the only better than the food, music and happy hour is their bartender Yawnie... highly recommend
Horrible, undrinkable Mai Tais.
Inedible grossly undercooked coconut shrimp. A local person told us that we were lucky we did not get food poisoning there.!
Not a whole lot to say other than it's hard to beat $5
Not a whole lot to say other than it's hard to beat $5 happy hour mai tai's and savory poke.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service especially by our waitress María. I highly recommend it
Food was great, my steak was perfectly cooked.
The bits of fried peppers in the Calamari were the perfect accent for a nice zest. The coconut Shrimp were so good I ate too fast to take a full picture, yum. Yawnie made a delicious Mai Thai, and was very friendly, the band was pleasant, very beachy feel to the place with a pretty good view, despite being right off the road (most of the other restaurants nearby just face the plaza).
Calamari was ok.
Sushi roll was all old sushi rice and little fish. Worst fish and chips I've ever had (super bland breading and dry fish inside). Better off getting food from the supermarket deli. Music was the only redeeming quality.
Happy Hour & Supper
Went for the end of Happy Hour and supper. $5 drinks were good and the fish and chips & the volcano burger were really good. Great atmosphere sitting at the rail with the live music. And the best was Jessica our server- she rocked. Would recommend and we will return again for sure before we leave. 😊
Go meet Whitney
The best Fish Tacos I have had on Maui! The local beers on tap, the service was the perfect waitress Whitney fits this place! Great Beach ambiance. I will recommend this place to more family and friends. Can't wait to come back!!
So bland!
Really bad. Waitress forgot our order. Noisy by the Main Street but what was really bad was the food. Ordered mahi mahi on pasta and it was really bland and tasteless. Vegetables in pasta were raw. Absolutely no taste. Not even any salt or poor anything to give it some taste. Really bad. Avoid if at all possible.
Lack of customer service
The restaurant was quite good but there was a middle aged lady that wore her hair in a long pony tail that was very rude and had very little customer service. Although we did not have a great experience with this waitress the food was really good and the place was really nice.
Live music pulled us in. Food and drinks kept us there.
Stopped by late evening when they had live music on the patio. Atmosphere was just what we were looking for. Fun and energetic. Food was good as well. Got the calamari and fish tacos by suggestion of the waiter. Both were better than I expected! Would definitely come back to try other food and just to hangout. Def worth a visit, especially if you can get a seat when they’ve got the live music going!
Terrible food
We went for dinner and some live music. The servers were pleasant and the service was fast. The music was ok, but the food was terrible!!! We had calamari and coconut shrimp appetizers, they were ok. The drinks were ok. The entrees were awful. Our party of 6 ordered fish tacos, California rolls, hamburgers and onion rings. Seriously just really bad food. I would not eat here again!
A Great Time
First visit to this restaurant and it was a blast. Really appreciated the live music - honestly it’s exactly what our soul needed. Great music and created a fun energy for everyone. Service was okay. The hostess rarely cracked a smile, and seemed grumpy but our waitress was very friendly. Food was okay - we had the Hulu Hulu Chicken and it was pretty dry. The potatoes were good though. Overall a fun place for some good beverages and live music.
Good Food, Mean Server
Good food, decent overall service, but we had a surprisingly mean server. It was quite disappointing. Important note: upon paying the bill, this server reached over and pressed the ‘continue’ button in the middle of us digitally signing, which automatically set the tip amount to the max (30 or 35% I didn’t see in time) without us being able to adjust it. We had planned to tip regardless of the mean server, because, well, we have been servers before… but this was pretty shocking. It seemed like it wasn’t the first time she had done this.
Great seafood place in Kihei
We liked this restaurant so much we went back twice during our stay. The poke was very good and the fish tacos. Great vibe. Staff was very friendly.
A Good Decision of sorts.
We had just watched the sun go down and now it was time to decide where to eat. It was a Friday evening, and we knew all the restaurants would be crowded in Kihei. So, rather than driving around, we decided to get in line at the Seafood Bar and Grill, which was directly across the street. I gave the person at the desk my name and after a short wait, my name was called. We could continue to wait for a table inside or be seated immediately outside on the patio. We took the latter because we were hungry. (Note: The patio is adjacent to the street and the traffic was loud at times.) We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was quite average. However, we both decided on the fish and chips dinner. The fish and the chips were both great. The coleslaw was good, but the "mac and cheese" tasted like a combo of elbow noodles and library paste. All-in-all, it was very good.
