Robertson's chips away Whitby Reviews from The Last Year
Nice to have a vegan choice
Couldn't fault the quantity cost or quality. Ordered from the vegan menu chips curry sauce and pea fritter. Only problem was the food wasn't piping hot surprising since it was cooked to order in a deep fat fryer.
Poor
Asked to step outside to wait even though shop empty no curry And just generally very rude Not good at all
Vegan chips and pea fritter is amazing!
The best chips and curry sauce I have had in a long time! Never had a pea fritter before, but wow 😮 I will be certainly having one again! All cooked in vegetable oil with its very own vegan menu! I was with a meat eater who loves chips cooked in beef dripping but after trying mine he went back to get some 🤣 This place will now be my place to go for vegan chips and a pea fritter! Thank you for making such an effort 🙏🏻
Great takeout
Called in for a takeaway fish and chips while on a day out. Very impressed, good portion sizes and very tasty. The price was much more reasonable than some of the other Whitby chippies I’ve visited previously
Excellent vegan options!
A great place if you are vegan, or not. My partner had a fantastic cod and chips, and I was delighted to see a really good vegan menu. I had chips, sausage and curry sauce, delicious. And the dog had some fish bites 🤗,all happy! Also good value for money.
Good Vegan menu.
We chose Robertson's because of the Vegan menu. The vegan sausage wasn't what we were expecting, being more of a battered bubble and squeak rather than a meat substitute, however they made a pleasant change and were delicious. Absolutely loved the pea fritter which is a battered ball of mushy peas. Chips were great too although portion size was on the small side, but probably enough to be fair. My only negative is that it was quite expensive in my opinion. £4 for a pea fritter or 2 small vegetable sausages seems excessive to me. Thoroughly enjoyed the food though.
Didn't eat there.
This place is not halal. It was confirmed by the employees. They fry everything together in vegetable oil. So basically it's not even edible for vegetarians/ vegans.
Nice chippy, good for gluten free
Visited with a large group, served quickly and really well. Very impressed by gluten free options and vegetarian. Had a lovely fish and chips. Including dandelion and burdock!!
Very average
Anemic chips and thin fish in a thin batter. The worst though was the unfriendly attitude when you walked in. It seemed no one wanted to be there. Not surprised they weren't very busy
So disappointed this time.
Tried and enjoyed in 2018 excellent experience with great glutten free menu. Special visit in Aug 2023. Staff friendly enough and good service HOWEVER £40 for 4 haddock and chips ( 2 of which were glutten free) very thin pieces of fish with SKIN still on and not a lot of chips. Very disappointed this time. Sorry guys next time in Whitby we won’t be back.
