Sushi Ken Torrance Reviews from The Last Year
We love the quality at Sushi Ken.
Personally I love the Omakase and it is really affordable compared to other places. That said, I eat everything. My kids choose to order their favorites a la Carte. Everyone is happy. Here are pictures from two different visits. Absolutely delicious. It is always quite empty and quiet which I like, but it's strange that reservations are required for a table. Maybe for inventory purposes? I have walked in and sat at the sushi counter without reservations. We love Sushi Ken.
What a divine find in Torrance! You do need reservations
What a divine find in Torrance! You do need reservations but we called and they had a spot for us. We got to sit right at the bar and I love sitting at a sushi bar. Can I just say the music was amazing!! Early 90's Japanese music is amazing. Aikawa Nanase was on and I was allll about it. They have Sapporo on draft so that's great. I wasn't sure how the sushi chef worked but he looked busy so we ordered with the waitress and with him. It was only him and he was amazing. The standouts were the scallop, amber jack and halibut. Sushi was fresh and rice was yummy. The negihama handroll was fresh. For me the most amazing thing was the fried anago (sea eel) which was a special of the kitchen. Sooo good and the octopus was perfectly cooked. Amazing!! Also the tempura roll was the best I have ever had. The fish is fresh and the price is fair and worth it. I would be back again.
Authentic sushi at a decent price.
Not the cheapest pricing but you really get delicious and quality food.
Being from Japan, I recognize great quality sushi.
The owner was the only sushi chef working on a quiet Saturday evening, with a couple people working the kitchen and a waiter. but it wasn't crowded at all, which was fine with me. However, the price was $$$$$ to go along with the quality. If you want cheap sushi, go elsewhere.
The fish could be fresher.
Still, it's a decent spot for conversations with coworkers or friends, and the service was good.
They're back they were closed for a couple of weeks but now
They're back they were closed for a couple of weeks but now they are back. still the best quality fish served in true Japanese style. we've been coming here for 15 years. covid was a struggle for them, but they have survived and the quality and service are still the best. reservations are a must to guarantee you a space. they will do take out, but with a limited menu. don't asked for weird maki rolls, this is traditional Japanese sushi prepared by Yashida San (his name is not Ken). expensive but worth every bite.
Dinner reservations required.
Not sure why. The place was 1/3 or less full. When we arrived we were the only ones. Oh well, whatever The sushi is spectacular. Wow! Sure , it's expensive , but the quality here is amazing I was referred here from some of my Japanese national friends. They did not steer me wrong. Best sushi in the South Bay. The service is prompt, polite , amazing. This is now my go to place

So we arrive at like 7 and its empty, (idk why everyone is waiting an hour!) the chef checked us in and we got seated. After some arguing with my sister we got the food. The sushi was too good. And everything too. Our waiter and chef was amazing. The chef even gave us candy! The inside was beautiful they had lots of painting and art. Would love to to there again.
Hate to write a bad review.
.. Found the chef's hair in my sushi and was a bit grossed out. Surprised the chef didn't notice his hair as he was preparing; pretty obvious. Rest of the meal felt like an episode of fear factor. Chef needs to wear a hair net...
