Tanta Chicago Reviews from The Last Year

Went to Tanta to celebrate a special occasion with my family. We had a reservation, and they were able to sit us early. The Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean, and the vibe was wonderful. But the highlight of the meal was the food, everything we ordered was amazing; would absolutely go back again. Would have given Tanta 4.5 stars but can't do halves; the meal was pricey and that's a big deal for me.

The ceviche and everything was really good! However, I'm disappointed that they don't sell Corvina fish for their ceviche.
This place is pretty cool.
Pretty easy to find once you know where it's at. Parking is tough unless you go to paid parking garage but it pretty expensive. We paid $58.00 but it's Chicago. The place is very clean and welcoming. Food was excellent. All kinds of mouth watering flavors. The food presentation was excellent The waiter was okay but not very personable. My favorite was the Ceviche Trio. In my opinion was worth the $52.00. The restrooms were very clean. For a Sunday it was not busy at all. Our total bill was $255.90 for a party of 4 and that only had one alcoholic drink. So this place is alittle on the pricey side. Would I come again. The answer is say yes but only for a special occasion.

Are y'all loco? With a reservation for 4 people, we were starving and greeted with only a cocktail menu. We asked for a food menu immediately and were told our server would be right out with them. 22 minutes later, and still no menu or server has taken our order. I stole a menu from someone else's table and all four of us had to share it. The server arrived with no menus at all! So whatever 9 dishes we ordered, when they came out I had no idea what we were eating cause apparently you have to blow someone to get a menu around here. The food came out in all the wrong order, our last dish of the night they brought out of the nine was our salad!!! Which nobody ate cause it should come first, morons. We also came for the dessert and weren't offered dessert or a menu but I saw other people eating theirs - awesome! Food was average - one of the nine dishes was better than average, and that's it. Horrific service. Why they have catorce bussers y servers just standing there not filling our empty water glasses or giving us menus is beyond me. Did I say the service was abysmal? Cool ambiance, but eat before you come and just have a drink at the bar.... Great if you can't afford Ozempic.
I've been going to Tanta since it opened over ten years ago.
However, I hadn't been back until last night in a few years. The service, food and ambiance is better now than ever. 10/10 for sure!
Amazing Peruvian experience offered by super friendly
Amazing Peruvian experience offered by super friendly staff, fresh ceviche, and bright ambience. The Pisco Sour is a must! Fish in the ceviche was fresh and the spices in the food in general were on point. Really wholesome to share it with your people family-style.
Fantastic service, and it doesn't sacrifice authenticity
Fantastic service, and it doesn't sacrifice authenticity for trendiness unlike many other river north restaurants. Only complaint is the lighting is not moody whatsoever. Classic Ceviche- 10/10 Empanadas- 8.5/10 (beef was the favorite) Peruvian Chicken- 6.5/10 (chicken was good but could've been juicier and was hoping for more out of the aji amarillo sauces) Lomo Saltado- 9.5/10 (some of the best we've had
Sure, their cibiche was on point, and their meats are great.
BUT, that's strangely the best fried rice I've ever had.

Tanta never disappoints!!! We first tried it in Buenos Aires, then Peru and were happily surprised to find one in Chicago. Nothing but mouthwatering options and a satisfying experience. The ceviche, lomo and yuca were all perfect. Exceptional service as well.
My girlfriend and I had a great experience getting dinner
My girlfriend and I had a great experience getting dinner at Tanta. The menu was excellent and the rooftop had a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Their ceviche is one of the best in the city and their staff went above and beyond to make recommendations and provide a top notch experience. Will definitely be coming back
