THE CHASTAIN - New American Bistro Atlanta Reviews from The Last Year
Great Spot
Fabulous restaurant that looks like one is in a forest instead of Atlanta. The food was great, especially the tuna tartare. The drinks were also great.
I tried the chicken pie and my partner tried the brocolli
I tried the chicken pie and my partner tried the brocolli salad. The pie was dissapointing, barely any chicken and shittake in it. The salad was great. Also highly recommend the biscuits. Service was slow but that makes sense as the place was packed. Really cute outdoor seating area. Would come here again for dinner

Great date night! Sat outside but entire restaurant and environment was wonderful! Food was delicious and service was fantastic. My husband left his phone at the restaurant and they even helped us track it down.
I dined at this restaurant on 2/24/2024.
What's not to love. From the moment I pulled into valet parking everything exceeded my expectations. I ordered the pan seared grouper with coconut rice and it was amazing. I had the sourdough bread and it was delectable and not tart like your average sourdough. My friend had the gluten free cheddar biscuits and they were definitely the best I've ever had, tender with an amazing taste. They did not taste like anything I've ever had gluten free. The mushrooms I believe they were mataki were so flavorful. For dessert we had the chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. Hers was gluten free. How can I give this cookie its props. First warm, tender and oozing with chocolatey goodness. The servers and wait staff were amazing as was the ambiance. And last but not least. On my way to the water closet I peeped the kitchen. I've never seen a more immaculate kitchen where meals are being prepared. If you haven't been you are definitely missing out on this gem tucked into the Chastain park neighborhood. Five stars doesn't do it for this restaurant. Just go!

I ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit, coffee, and 2 pastries. It was superrr pricey, came out to $39. Thankfully everything was tasty and filling. Had to save the pastries for later after eating the biscuit cause they are pretty large. The Danish I had was really good, however, the orange slice that was put on top was extremely bitter. It almost ruined the whole thing. But luckily I was able to remove it and the top layer of the cream to enjoy the rest of the pastry. Overall the experience was more of a 3.5 than 4. Judging critically due to the pricing but rounding up because of how quick my order was ready.
The food is great but the service is very inconsistent.
The staff is often understaffed leading to long pauses between courses.

I had an amazing experience! When I first walked in I saw the bakery and it was very inviting. The service was quick and pleasant. The ambiance was very comfortable and still felt like high quality. My Chair latte was delicious! So was my espresso martini. I ordered the chicken entire, which my server suggested and I was very satisfied. I can't wait to go back again.

I went to the Chastain on a Saturday for dinner and fully intend on going back. When we got there for our reservation, we waited about 2 minutes before being seated. The non-food experience at the Chastain was great - not too loud, not too quiet, nice scenery, great location, very nice waitress, timely service, etc. The food was, for the most part, awesome. We started with the mushroom pasta (not sure what it's really called), which was arguably the best pasta I've ever had - sort of reminded me of a fancy beef stroganoff without the beef but with a ton of various mushrooms. For our mains, I got the rabbit roulade, and my fiancé got the cheeseburger (per multiple friends' recommendations). To be honest, the rabbit was alright - the roulade filling and rabbit meat weren't highly distinguishable, which was odd, and I wasn't big on the flavor or consistency of the rabbit. The cheeseburger, however, was delicious, but given the hype I'd heard about the burger, I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. If I were to go back, I'd probably try another non-sandwich entree before going with the burger, but if you're in the mood for a burger, you will be extremely satisfied. While I recognize my commentary about our entrees isn't glowing, I'd definitely recommend this place and intend on going back as I remember a number of other entrees that looked tasty, like lamb and grouper.

Overall, food was really good! I came for brunch with my family and ordered the Cascara to start. I wasn't the biggest fan and probably wouldn't get this again. It tastes like heavily watered down coffee. For starters, we ordered a selection of pastries and breads including the mocha concha, cheddar chive biscuit, and the dayspring farms biscuit. All of these were excellent! My favorite was probably the cheddar chive biscuit, but the plain biscuit was quite good too! The concha was super flavorful, but perhaps would have been better as a dessert. As for mains, the broccoli caesar was good though a bit salty with the rather heavy dressing. The salmon was cooked well. I loved the mac and cheese and the french onion soup! These were both phenomenal! The chicken schnitzel was solid-- nothing to write home about but the spaetzle was nice and al dente. Service wasn't great... they originally forgot about our drink orders. I think our waitress was new though. Ambiance was nice- lots of natural light. Valet parking was also nice, but the art choice inside was very strange- a little unsettling. Nonetheless, I would still come back and would definitely recommend giving The Chastain a try!
Not sure they deserve a Michelin star
They should not have a Michelin star. Server was new and didn’t have a good understanding of the dishes. Had to come back twice because he didn’t know how some dishes were constructed. The menu hasn’t been updated for awhile. I was disappointed by the Beef Tallow Tater Tots. The taste wasn’t there and in hindsight, not sure it was a good use of caviar. The burger needs to be elevated. Something needs to be done with the fries to make you want it again and again. We had a salad split and one of the plates got all of the cucumbers. Is Michelin slipping?!?!? Not a 1 star at all. Good. Expensive. Just not a 1 star. Far from it.
Stopped in for a breakfast meeting and was not disappointed.
The food, service and setting were perfect to catch up with a business friend! Will be back!
Great lunch spot, beautiful indoors and outdoors
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious! You can really tell they specialize in farm to table and use local ingredients. Service was great as well. Our waitress offered great recommendations. Other staff members made sure our water glasses were full and we had everything we needed. The interior and exterior are beautiful. It feels as if you are in a garden in the middle of the city! Plus there’s an incredible bar and bakery inside. Definitely worth checking this place out.
Perfection
Dinner was absolute perfection. The Chastain is a beautiful space. Our server, Scott, was a true professional. Great choice of wines by the glass. Started with the garden salad which was beautiful and tasty and perfectly dressed. Halibut was beautiful and perfectly cooked. Delicious pappardelle with spicy sausage. For desert we had profiteroles which were absolutely delicious. Wonderful evening and a wonderful meal.
Beautiful food, bring ear plugs
I have a big problem with the difference between the image of the restaurant on the website compared to the actual experience. We chose the Chastain for the image of a serene, farm to table, pastoral experience, and that is very different from our visit. Had a lovely time at the bar, but then as soon as we were seated in the tented garden, it went quickly downhill. For starters, it is LOUD. I couldn't hear anything that my wife and the server were ordering, and I was just across a very small bistro table. Second, the frentic pacing of the food was completely unacceptable. We ordered drinks and starters, and were enjoying those when the salads came out too. We didn't have enough room at our little bistro table for any of it, let alone all of that. We had ordered our salads to go with our wine, but we hadn't even picked that out before the salads came out. The wine list is solid, but we very rushed to order one because the entrees were coming out, before we had even started our salads. Definitely would have chosen a different bottle if I had time to find out more about them. The food itself was amazing. This food doesn't deserve this restaurant. Our server came around with our check, which we paid, then another server came around with the dessert menu, which we were never offered by the server who brought the check. We couldn't wait to get out from under the tent, so we ordered our own tea and after dinner drinks from the bar, and sat by the firepit for another hour, to actually enjoy the image of Chastain that the website promised.
Great Spot in Chastain
Nothing but five stars from me. We had both pasta dishes and they were incredible. The drinks were fantastic (I had Mezcal cocktails) and the service was impeccable. Oh, and it's a beautiful setting. We'll be back there frequently.
Too good to be 4 out of 5
I reserve my 5 out of 5 reviews for exceptional experiences, and whilst I’m not sure our dinner at The Chastain was exceptional, it was better than 4 out of 5. Service was very good, although we felt it was close to the hostess reading 80% of the menu to us, which is a bit over kill. However, the hostesses attention to detail, interest in our likes/dislikes, and acknowledgement of my wife’s food intolerances was perfection. Honestly, the food was a very, very good 9.5 out of 10. The menu has some interesting options, some of which can be modified to be lactose free. We love Sancerre, but $21 for a glass of $60 a bottle wine is a little steep (we still ordered a glass). The interior is very nice, modern, contemporary and comfortable. We felt the price of the food was justifiable for the quality received; 1 glass of Sancerre, 1 cocktail, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, bread basket, sparkling water, plus gratuity $220 In summary, we enjoyed it enough to book my birthday dinner in a few months.
Mediocre and loud.
It was a bit nostalgic visiting this building, which for some time housed The Horseradish Grill serving delectable southern dishes. However, the current restaurant/bistro was really disappointing. It began like the old establishment, with valet parking. This is essential given the traffic and ingress/egress on Powers Ferry Road. It is a much expanded footprint with lovely outdoor seating, booths inside and a breakfast pastry and takeout section upon entering. This is where it became confusing. There are inside and outside tables. It was noisy inside and the tables in the takeout area were too close together for a business discussion. So we moved outside where there were plenty of tables. We were there for coffee and a business meeting. The young and very inexperienced woman who came over to the table did not know how to handle us as we apparently sat down at a table reserved only for people who were eating breakfast or lunch. We told her we only wanted to chat and drink our coffee (ordered inside) and she did not know what to do. So, she went and found what we assumed was the outside manager. She came over and told us the table was for dining-in patrons only. So, we told her to give us a couple of menus and we would order. The earlier server came back and asked for our order, which we eventually got around to but she was clearly inexperienced and did not know how to handle us, which made the moment quite awkward. Apparently, there was not much training for the staff. We both ordered breakfast and since we were both on the keto diet, she was perplexed by our order of eggs and bacon only. However, a short time later our order came. My "well done" fried eggs were still runny and my order of crispy bacon was limp and undercooked. We had to ask for salt and pepper three times before it showed up. It is extremely noisy outside, a feature which distracted greatly from the dining experience. Many times we had to halt our business discussion due to sirens, heavy commercial vehicles passing and noisy trucks along Powers Ferry Road. Crying babies and loud patrons also made the experience less than pleasant. Overall a mediocre and disappointing dining experience. If you go there for a meaningful conversation I recommend eating inside in a booth. The manager needs to train the staff at a much higher level and the chef needs some help preparing the meal to the preferred way it is ordered. The ultimate test..........would I go back there? Well, I like to give establishments a second chance but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to friends. Sorry...............
Great 19th Hole!
Excellent 19th Hole for nearby golf course. Food outstanding, service double outstanding and beverages spot on for celebrating the round or crying in one's beer depending on the round :-) . Best regards, David Candler & foursome!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
