The Dabney Washington Reviews
Beautiful fine dining in Blagden Alley.
Attention to detail really matters. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, but unobtrusive. We had a seat close to the open kitchen, and fire; it gets warm! Drinks were excellent- had the martini cocktail and the bourbon with wine floater (very smoo

This was possibly the best meal I have had in DC so far.
We walked in and they happened to have a table that had just cancelled and seated us immediately. The service was great, everyone was very attentive and answered questions about the things they grow and how they cook it. It's an open kitchen so

Disappointing although I can't ignore the talent of the Chef and kitchen. For me it was a weak flavor profile. The Pork Prime Rib was kind of bland, but the overall dish was saved by the pork sausage and the kabobs. The scallop crudo hinted of s
Good...Yes. Worth it...No
We were last there a few years ago and had a memorable experience; we could feel striving in both the back and front of the house, with very creative dishes. Now, with much higher prices, it seems to be resting on its Star. The tasting menu of 5 cour

We've had a dozen or so evenings at the Dabney and love the setting, the food and the staff. It's the total package from a dining experience standpoint, and we keep going back. The bar team is our favorite, but everyone in the front is frie

The open kitchen setting is an amazing design concept.
Dishes were all locally sourced and overall very good. A low country meets the metropolitan area is how best to describe the offerings. Service staff was delightful and obviously proud of their establishment. Chef was on hand due to a video productio
Amazing food, phenomenal service
My boyfriend and I went to the Dabney for my birthday and it was such an amazing experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was even better. Our server, Sarah, was so kind and nice and very helpful with food choices from the tasting menu. Sh

We had a fabulous, three course, bar, prix fix dinner! The staff was wonderful, the ambiance was intimate and the food fantastic. The vegetables were so tasty and unique. The dessert was different and interesting. If you're looking for a pr
Excellent American food - at a price
Ok - it’s a bit tricky to find. And when you do you’ll probably go through the wrong door. BUT it’s excellent. I’d had lots of good food IN America, but I was looking for good food FROM America. After a slight delay in being seated (I ha

Got dropped off in an alley and was super confused until I found the restaurant, and I must say, what a cool space... the service, the food, the vibe, the everything was top notch. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience fine
Beautiful restaurant with a great vibe.
I ate solo at the bar and had: - Soft shell crab (3.5/5) - I'm actually not sure I've had soft shell crab before, but this tasted decent but not memorable. I dunno that I really tasted the crab flavor that much. - Scallop (4.5/5) - Perfectly cooked

Love the alley entrance.
Very European and cute. The staff super attentive but the vibe is very posh and comfortable. The food is inventive and so thoughtfully plated and prepared. You can tell everyone loves what they do. Wildly expensive but really a place to go for specia

5.7/10 Dined on 5/11/24 Since our first visit back in 2021, a lot has changed at The Dabney. Most notably, the four course prix fixe menu ($85) has ballooned into an 8 course tasting for a hefty $235. With that in mind, we're serving up a full revie
Everything was fantastic but there's simply not enough food.
Paid $1K (with wine pairings) but left hungry. They need to incorporate starches of some variety. Heading to get a slice of pizza.
I took my fiancée here to celebrate our engagement.
Overall, we had a really great experience. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu which was $185pp. I feel like it would be better priced at $150pp. The cheapest wine by the glass was $16. The cheapest white wine by the bottle was about $100-110 and
4.5 Dabbed
A friend who lives in the greater DC area recommended it back some time. It's in a cute area over near Howard University, about a 10minute walk from the metro. It had a smart upper-middle class hip vibe. I was alone but I think it would be a good

This was a true dining experience.
Every bite was phenomenal and the service left nothing to be desired. It was delightful to watch the careful preparation and the fire in the kitchen.
Disappointing Dabney
My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at The Dabney. Unfortunately, we found it to be a very disappointing experience. The level of cooking was variable. While there were some excellent dishes (or parts of dishes), most were just goo
Incredible date night.
We had the 8 course prefix menu with the regular wine pairing. All said it was over $700 ($350 pp) - which is steep. That being said, it was a two hour food tour of one exceptional bite after another. It was an event to be memorable - and it was. G
Wife’s 35th Bday Dinner
I would like to think we all like to spoil our significant others for their Birthdays-I took my wife to dinner at The Dabney and we were amazed by the 8 course dinner and classic wine pairing. Every single employee was helpful from the moment we walk
We had the 3-course dinner menu.
The food was ok-- All the dishes were grilled American-Asian fusion dishes that were pretty interesting but kinda salty. The vibes were nice though (good for date night) and the staff were friendly!
Slow and pretentious - star payment but not star food
Slow and pretentious - some excellent dishes but others much less so. Over three hours - ie, a bit less than 3 courses an hour - yet, several courses needed little preparation at the time of serving. Best by far the main duck course - well conceive

It befuddles my mind how The Dabney is the #1 restaurant in the DC area according to The Washingtonian. My partner and I dined at the restaurant this evening, and spent nearly $1000 for the meal plus a shared wine pairing. This was a real splurge for
Food and service were impeccable.
We went for a special birthday dinner. I set my expectations low as a few recent fine dining experiences did not live up to the hype for me (Tail Up Goat was underwhelming for me). The restaurant was bustling but not loud which was a plus for me -

Slow
Service was friendly but slow. Drinks took ages and the bar was not crowded. Martini was not great. Food took a while too. Food was good but small portions. Prices were too high for such small portions. Overall not awful but not exceptional.
I waited WAY TOO LONG to post my review of this place.
It's been several years, but I still have the photos to prove it. I just have little recollection of what the dishes were called, and since the chef rotates the menu regularly, it's doubtful many of these items are still here. (See pictures below) W
Worth the Money if you're used to spending it like this
The Dabney is one of a kind and we're happy we dined there. Having said that, I'm not sure any restaurant is worth $250 pp (before tip) but that could be because I'm just not used to spending that much. I love tasting menus and that is what The Dab
Perfection in the District
One could start by highlighting the incredible flavors in the dishes - or the delicious cocktails crafted with local spirits, or the chic ambiance of the bricked space with the open kitchen - all world class - but the highlight is the exceptional ser

This use to be my favorite go to restaurant in DC, but I'm sad at what it's become. Prior to Covid it was an all a la carte restaurant and it was delicious and reasonable. Not cheap but for $250 or so a couple could go there and have a great night

Pros: No matter what anyone says, Michelin Stars are well-earned. The food was bonkers delicious. The dining room was huge and open and warm and inviting and the kitchen was also wide open so we got to see them make every single course like a well
Such a good dinner!
We were so excited to get a reservation at The Dabney. We were seated just a table from the counter where the chef worked and it was perfect. The night we went the focus was on a local pork farmer and seasonal crab. Each course was delicious. I c

The Dabney, this year’s Washingtonian Magazine pick as the #1 DC restaurant is richly deserved. We had eaten there five times in the last few years as a couple and with friends and had always left elated. Not last night. We hadn’t eaten at The
Elegant upscale dining experience awaits you.
Choose the outside garden patio. You're welcome. Signature drinks from the Bar and having been here several times, I have not had one bad meal here. The customer service is outstanding and the wine selection is extensive.

Top Notch Food and topshelf bar
Just exquisite food! And the service was on par with some of the best in the world. Go to town on the menu if you can, as everything is wonderful some items can be eclectic but its all good.Go an enjoy!!
We just returned home from our "taste" experience.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Dabney Washington at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Dabney Washington page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* CompellingStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* CompellingStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to CompellingStation67 for any questions Peter may have as CompellingStation67 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* CompellingStation67 now uses their connections at The Dabney Washington to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If CompellingStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, CompellingStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to CompellingStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Dabney Washington!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
