The Grill at Torrey Pines San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Super disappointed with our dinner tonight.
We have come here many times, as I do not live far from this restaurant. While the food was still great, the service was significantly worse than we have ever experienced. We had reservations, but when we showed up, they weee not ready for us. Not because the table wasn't ready, but because they did not have menus. Once we were seated, it took a little time to get our drink order in, but nothing too long. When our waiter brought the drinks, he accidentally spilled on my mother, no problem, but the waiter seemed irritated at us for his own mistake. Then, we waited 20 minutes for anyone to come by again to order food. The food was excellent and was delivered in a timely manner, but once again, no service during the meal. We were all out of water and needed drink refills. They finally came by for that, but then disappeared again. We were now hitting 2 hours at the restaurant and one of our party had a train to catch. We finally went up to the hostess stand to ask for our waiter again, only to be greeted with a condescending attitude. Overall, the entire service team at this restaurant has ruined what is a great meal and ambiance. I am not sure who is managing this team, but they have a lot of work to do if they want to serve anyone but those who visit the hotel. Super disappointed and will not be returning. They just lost one of their locals due to bad front of the house and service. The kitchen staff should be commended -too bad the rest of the place doesn't know how to treat customers. 2 stars for the food alone-service gets a zero.
SO YUMMY.
The views are gorgeous of the golf course and the hotel is so pretty. We had a breakfast of a veggie omelet, waffle, coffee, and Bloody Mary's. Everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. A perfect place to stop on the way to the breweries in San Diego.
We went for breakfast here at "The Grill at Torrey Pines".
We are very familiar with the place where the restaurant is. My Son had played golf in this area, we checked-in our friends here from out of town for a couple of days. We've also had dinner at their other restaurants in their lodge , but this was our first time to try their Breakfast here at "The Grill at Torrey pines". First of all, this is such a wonderful place to dine-in at, it's facing a Golf course, it's very relaxing, it has a nice breeze, and it has very nice View! We ordered the following: *SMOKED SALMON and CREAM CHEESE OMELET *AVOCADO TOAST *2 COFFEES My husband got the SMOKED SALMON and CREAM CHEESE OMELET, this dish was delicious. There were a lot of salmons in the omelet and it came with a nicely toasted bread and roasted potatoes. Also, there was a big chunk of Cream cheese tucked inside the Omelette, this one was very good. My Avocado toast was good, but the veggies on the side were too citrusy for me. My avocado toast is a good size, very filling. This is a good place to hang out and dine in with Family and Friends while having a nice View.
Billion dollar views, great service and just a nice calm
Billion dollar views, great service and just a nice calm vibe. Went here for a business meeting. I tried their cheeseburger and it was great. Will have to go back to try some more of the food but the service was great, the seating is plentiful, amazing views of the golf course, pro shop and putting greens. You can even see the paragliders as they fly around the cliffs. Great relaxing spot to take a break from all the noise and bustle around San Diego.
The grill is solid and the service is always great.
It's pricey but it's Torrey pines what are you gonna do. Burger is phenomenal and the chicken sandwich is solid! Good old fashioned and whisky selection and a few good craft beers on tap
Think basic bar and grill on the most beautiful golf course.
We unfortunately had to sit inside due to rain, but the views from the patio are lovely. Food was on par (no pun) for a grill, plenty of options. They have a more formal restaurant just above that we didn't have the chance to check out. Espresso martini: one of the better espresso martinis I've tired. I enjoy ones darker in color, less sweet and creamy, which describes theirs nicely. With Tito's, cold brew, and coffee liquor, this was the perfect brunch pick me up. Reuben: didn't try this sandwich, was reportedly good, your average Reuben. Smoked Tuna Salad Sandwich: very good, toasty levain bread, generous amount of albacore with the perfect remoulade and even extra mayonnaise on the bread which I'm always for! I appreciated that the tuna was the star of the show with just a small bunch of lettuce and a single tomato slice (which I actually don't recall?) Do not go out of your way, but if you want to check out the course and grab a bite, this will certainly do just fine!
First time at The Grill and was surprised by the average
First time at The Grill and was surprised by the average ratings. I actually had a very pleasant breakfast experience, and you can't beat that view! We were sat down immediately upon arrival, and drinks and food were promptly served. I really enjoyed the huevos rancheros, and my friend and I were very grateful for having a pitcher of coffee left in our table. Will definitely come back after a golf game for their dinner menu.
We've had breakfast/brunch here many times.
Management is always friendly and the service is always top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant. The eggs Benedict is delicious.

I hate when places like this justify their prices by what surrounds the restaurant vs what's inside the restaurant.
This is one of my favorite local spots and I eat here often.
The service is consistently great but our server Joshua was exceptional.
Dinner after we arrived at the Lodge.
Very scenic location with great ambiance and attentive service. We were seated outside per our request and quickly noticed that the outdoor seating had the heat lamps turned on - full blast and we felt like we were under a kitchen broiler. Moved once. Another couple close by asked to be seated away from the heaters. I ordered the half chicken with couscous - chicken was done nicely but it was marred by thick coating of pungent mustard under the couscous and mixed into it.
Just had breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando and
Just had breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando and reminded me to write this review. Was staying at The Lodge from 12/28 to 12/30/23 and had breakfast at the Grill on 12/30. Side Note- A.R. Valentine is the best restaurant in San Diego in my opinion. Back to review. Ordered scrambled eggs and what I receive were overcooked, rubbery eggs. Waiter took them back-don't remember ever sending eggs back- and what came back was maybe the best scrambled eggs ever had. I asked what was the difference and the waiter said first eggs were from a line cook and the 2nd eggs were from the chef. In addition, stayed at many nice hotels and The Lodge might be my favorite. I think I'll go back just for the breakfast/eggs. Please, if the Chef reads this, take the time to show your staff how to cook scrambled eggs. Had lunch day before after golf and was excellent. It is unfortunate that most restaurants don't really live up to quality. Including the Orlando Ritz Carlton where I am currently writing this from. Yes, as my kids would say, the eggs this morning here were pretty "mid".

February 25, 2024 Wow! What a difference from the last time I was here. Salad was super fresh and crisp. The "Bread Pudding" frittata/quiche of mushrooms, onions, Parmesan was excellent on all fronts. Really great improvement. Bravo!
