The Wheel Stamford Reviews from The Last Year
We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this
We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this place on our date night! I wonder if it had to do with the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc we started with... The place is incredible! Beautifully decorated inside with a rustic feel, by the water, and with live music! We went on. Thursday night. Our waitress was Sage who recommended great options. You HAVE to have the brûlée goat cheese. SO delicious with the crusty bread. It went so well with the wine and ambiance. Then the PEI curry mussels...Whoa! What a great fusion of curry with mussels. And you will want to soak up all the curry with crusty bread. Then the calamari with these tangy peppers. SO YUM! The appetizers were one hit after another! We then got the burger which was also very good. I don't know how we made room for dessert (gluttony for sure). The Take 5 Sundae took me over the top. Almost popped off the button on my pants!! I would definitely come here again, especially in the warmer weather. They have a rooftop!
Food was amazing & drinks were very good.
Service was perfect! Griffin our waiter demonstrated a wide knowledge of the food and drinks! He's amazing with his recommendations, service and conversation! Chloe was also very helpful too! Great staff & Highly recommend this place!

Just had brunch at the wheel and had an incredible experience. Live music in the dining room, quick service, tasty cocktails, and the food was 10/10. Beautiful spot for brunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
What an incredible restaurant! The food is perfect.
Every dish exceeded our expectations at brunch. We had the crushed avocado (delish), the smoked salmon toast, and fish tacos with a side order of potatoes. Each was superb! Service was great! Our server was helpful and checked in with us often. The restaurant is inviting and eclectic. Every detail has been perfectly planned. However, (and this is a big however), this restaurant can choose to be an upscale eatery or a place that caters to all but doesn't make anyone happy. I'm okay with spending $$ to have a great dining experience. I am not okay with spending $$ and sitting near small children who scream at the top of their lungs, run around their table, and throw their china on the floor. It is especially problematic when you specifically tell the hostess you do not want to sit near young children and she sits you there anyway. Furthermore, if I make a reservation, and you ask if it is a special occasion, and I say YES... Then, when my party enters, you should mention it. Otherwise, don't bother asking. I would love to return here again and again. But I think this place needs to decide who they are catering to: adults or parents with young children. They can't do both.
We stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed the experience.
The restaurant had a large bar area along with two spacious dining areas. We started with an appetizer, the Wheel Fire Bread. It was a great start, smoked ricotta, hot honey and roasted almonds. It was delicious. For my entree I had the Wheelhouse burger which was absolutely delicious. A nice thick burger cooked a perfectly medium rare. My girlfriend ordered the Chilaquiles which were a large serving and were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back to try other items on their brunch and dinner menus.

They offer a few vegan options which allowed me to join a celebration with colleagues. The "whipped eggplant" was delicious and I enjoyed the "crushed avocado". The server was very friendly and offered great recommendations. The atmosphere was gorgeous and very clean.
Lovely setting, great service and pretty good food.
Table of 8 and all seemed pleased. I will surely return especially in better weather as there is great outdoor seating.
Our business client took us here for a holiday dinner.
The ambience was awesome and the staff was very attentive. We took some lovely pictures near the beautiful wall mural and holiday décor. However the lackluster menu casted a small shadow on the dining experience itself. I feel that this restaurant tries way too hard to "think outside of the box" in terms of what they offer. This causes the restaurant to fall short on including practical options that should be on the menu, but are not. They have all of these weird side-dish options, but none that sensible minded diners would expect. For example, the restaurant did not have mashed potatoes, baked potato or some type of rice as a side-dish option. This is what many people would like to have with their steak, poultry or seafood main course. I was so disappointed to see that the only side-dish options were polenta, brussell sprouts, fries or macaroni & cheese. Really? The macaroni and cheese lacked flavor and was overcooked; not al dente. It tasted similar to boxed mac and cheese that a kid can cook. The flat iron steak was very good (tender and juicy). It came with corn salsa. CORN SALSA, but no potato side dish? The chimichurri sauce that was drizzled on the steak was too salty and did not taste like it had any garlic in it. The restaurant didn't even have basic bread to offer (confirmed by the waiter). I would have been grateful to have anything; a piece of baguette or even a sandwich wedge roll. The waiter instead brought us pita bread cut into tiny triangle slices. An American restaurant that doesn't have basic bread? That's like Starbucks not having coffee to sell its customers. I don't understand the lack of common sense that I saw at this restaurant in so many instances. My experience here was not bad. But it wasn't good enough in where I want to go back again. If you want, give this place a try. And bon appetit to you.
As a follow up to my review of the Wheel in Stamford.
After a VERY disappointing experience the management reached ou & asked me to contact them so they could rectify the situation. I did & never heard anything. I would steer clear. Too bad, nice setting
We were regulars at The Wheel for 2+ years and recently
We were regulars at The Wheel for 2+ years and recently decided to not return due to continuous failures of food freshness and consistency, lack of reliably acceptable bar/cocktail experience, and guest care. As of late, my fish was not fully cooked, my husband's wine tasted and smelled odd (we were told the glass wasn't clean...which created additional concern with dining at The Wheel) and what has ultimately turned us away is their failure to send us a gift card our family member ordered for us on 12/7/23. Our family doesn't buy holiday gifts, so nothing was expected. After over two weeks from the purchase date, we were asked if we received the gift card and hadn't, so we checked with Charlie (the manager). Charlie said he would call me that day but never did. I followed up with Charlie five days later 12/28/23 and as I write this review, I still have not received a response or any action from Charlie or The Wheel. Our family member has disputed the charge for the gift card with their credit card company -- a task they shouldn't have had to deal with after having tried to do a nice thing for someone during the holidays. How does a "business" take someone's money for a gift card they promote on their website and not provide the gift card purchased? Beyond that, then ignore the gift card recipient who is trying to resolve the issue. This level of care and commitment to their guests is inexcusable. The Wheel has been spiraling. We've been hearing for years that there is a new chef, new manager, new drinks manager, new food or cocktail menu coming that will be better. Living so close to The Wheel, enjoying the atmosphere and many of the people who work there, we wanted to love The Wheel, so we continued to give it another chance. We wanted it to be our every Friday night place as it once was, but we are tired of it. There is a current problem with management and there is obviously a problem with the owner(s) because the problems we see have been consistent despite The Wheel having been through at least 3 managers since we have been going there. At this point, the problems point to ownership, and we refuse to continue to support their cash stream. There are many other amazing places to visit in the area: Ten Twenty Post in Darien or take your pick of the options in Greenwich (The Cottage is one of our favorites). In the summer, the vibe at The Wheel is amazing, but that was even ruined by a rude bartender who literally threw our bill down the bar to us (we were the only ones at the bar so she wasn't too busy to walk the bill down and hand it to us) and she couldn't make a Bees Knees. At a place like The Wheel, a bartender should be able to make a Bees Knees -- I make them myself at home and have no bartending experience. I never leave reviews and because The Wheel has been our place for years, I hate leaving such a bad review. We've seen so many great people leave The Wheel and there are still some great employees there. For the people we care about who remain at The Wheel, I hope the owner sees this, pays attention where attention is needed and takes drastic action. As a business, they are not living up to their responsibilities to the public or (from the turnover I've seen) to their employees.

Excellent food and service
The drinks had the right amount of liquor. All of us had salmon which was delicious. We all shared the appetizer and cheese cake dessert. Wonderful experience. Plenty of parking.
Excellent service and food
We were visiting in the area and decided to try The Wheel. We sat indoors with the comfortable a/c however there were many dining on the outdoor patio. We had delicious tuna tartare and mozzarella with fresh tomatoes then the best halibut dish cooked to perfection, bolognese and short rib dinner for the rest of our party. No room for dessert. Our server Michael was quite attentive. The specialty cocktail with watermelon was refreshing. We’ll be back!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
