Wild Ginger Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

This restaurants looks it's hosting the board meeting of a company that's going out of business. Decor-less and strange inside. Service is very heartfelt, kind, and inexperienced. Food is PF Chang's bland. But sometimes PF Chang's is exactly what you want, so there's that.
Had a lovely meal here with a colleague during a convention
Had a lovely meal here with a colleague during a convention at the local convention center. We needed a place to eat after a long day and even though we didn't make a reservation for 7pm on a Thursday night, they were able to accommodate us. Our server was lovely and kept our water glasses full. Although we didn't drink alcohol, they had a lovely BTG menu. We ordered three items for the table. Please be aware that this establishment is family style. Be prepared to share food!! We shared the Pad Thai and the shrimp. Food was delicious! Service was wonderful. Although it's on the pricier side, this meal was definitely worth it and probably the nicest meal we ate while in Seattle. Thanks for having us! Until next time!
Most Delicious!!!
We had dinner here and OMG! What an experience! The restaurant is very comfortable and modern with a great atmosphere. The service is friendly, helpful, and attentive, and the food is the star of the show. The fragrant duck is superb. I'm not a fan of duck, but absolutely loved it here. This place can fill up, so make a reservation to secure a table. The down town location only serves dinner. We highly recommend it.
Our experience was a solid four stars.
Modified ingredients to accommodate allergy, which some won't. Eager, if not over eager, servers, creative food, nicely prepared, properly described, and brought when hot and fresh. I frequently read reviews to help me when out of town, and some of the negatives on this one seem weirdly phony. "No serious diners eat before 8PM?" Either narrow, ignorant, or unaware of the challenges of the area. Or a disgruntled former employee? This is a great location, struggling with post pandemic issues as are many. I would go back when next in Seattle.
Exceptional!!!!
Top notch service! From hostess to server to cooks to manager….there people deliver on a mission to present great food and drink and a memorable meal experience!!! 100%. If you find yourself in Seattle for business or pleasure, find your way here in the heart of South Lake Union, “the” happening area and you won’t go wrong!
I came to Wild Ginger from a recommendation and it did not
I came to Wild Ginger from a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The location is quite perfect between the business district and the tourist area, which made it easy to find. I love the two floor concept and the large bar area. While it wasn't 100% full when I arrived, there was a steady uptick in clientele and there was a wait when I left. My bar seat was perfect as the bartender was very thoughtful bopping back and forth between guests. He told me that the seven flavor beef was one of his favorite menu items, which is perfect because that was in my eye. It definitely did not disappoint and was quite incredible. The beef was prepared well and was a great cut so it wasn't chewy or tough. The sauce had tons of flavor and was blended well so I never felt one flavor overwhelm any of the others. Be sure to get a side of rice with the dish - although it's large the rice adds the consistency that is needed. I also had the spicy Thai margarita - if you're faint on spice, avoid it. While it's not super spicy, it's definitely got a kick. Honestly, more of a kick than I had assumed so it took me by surprise, but I still liked it.
Worth every star
Wild Ginger crushed it for our special dinner. We were seated promptly at a perfect table. Wait staff had good suggestions and tips for our orders. A nice card signed by some staff was at our table which was a very nice touch to start our evening. Food was prompt, nice and hot, and most importantly delicious! It did get a bit loud briefly but once crowd for the show at music hall left it was very lovely.

Ask for the white fish Siam lettuce cup starter and Thai mushrooms satay. Great restaurant. We now live in Longview Wa. But even when we lived in California and went to Seattle we alway went to Wild Ginger.

Pad Thai was AMAZING! I would go back just for that! The price compared to other locations was steep! If you are looking for a fancy sit down restaurant, then this place is for you. However, if you want some Thai/Chinese food without the restaurant feel, I would research into other places. The price again is high compared to others.
Beef dish was good but small portions, the lamb was fatty
Beef dish was good but small portions, the lamb was fatty and like an appetizer yet it was the main dish. 100 bucks for 3 items with rice and green beans no drinks, just isn't worth the price.
Despite eating there many times over the years, last night
Despite eating there many times over the years, last night was a big disappointment. Ordered drinks & food, but the food arrived before our drinks & it wasn't even hot. It wasn't our complete order & we had to wait until the meal was over for the final order to arrive. We told the waiter that we didn't like having our food before our drinks & she did apologize. But, our waiter seemed completely out of the picture & the kitchen was throwing out the food without any regard to timing.
I had dinner at this location a few nights ago.
I have to say customer service was awful. We waited over 20 minutes for a drink. And another 25 for food. The server never waited on property and was rude when we asked questions. At what point I had to get up from our table to request chili and more drinks. I would not recommend this location.
What's up with a restaurant closing for dinner at 8:30 pm
What's up with a restaurant closing for dinner at 8:30 pm in downtown Seattle? Is the target market seniors who eat early?! Or those who order on Uber Eats every night? Serious diners do not eat before 8. Sad sad sad. Because the food is good. Plus it's right by lots of cultural events. You would think they would be open till at least 10
Food was phenomenal and service was funny and fast!! Highly
Food was phenomenal and service was funny and fast!! Highly recommend the green beans and tofu substitutes for the kung pao chicken!
oh my gosh such a good spot.
i love thai food in general but never have i ever found a spot that beats our local place. wild ginger takes the lead the quality of the food was amazing. so fresh and delicious. They accommodated our big group for my birthday, without hesitation. the inside is well maintained, clean, and beautiful. good service and amazing food. highly recommend
Recent visit has been positive.
The packing duck was excellent and the prawn noodle dish was also really good. I sent clients here sometime for dates.
Solid choice
Everything was solid. Our server was very nice. The food was nicely seasoned and not too salty. Prices were reasonable for the portions.
I hadn't been to the downtown Seattle Wild Ginger in
I hadn't been to the downtown Seattle Wild Ginger in forever. It did not disappoint. I went as part of an intimate family wedding celebration, so we had the private banquet room. It was a nice size for the 11 of us. The wait staff was very prompt and kept our water glasses filled. The food came out swiftly and was overall very delicious. Our appetizer course was Spring Rolls and a beef Satay. Both were extremely delicious. The spring rolls were very hot and crisped to perfection. The sweet and sour sauce was nice and light. The beef had a delicious spice. The main meal was pretty ordered and included chinese sausage & shrimp fried rice, thai wide rice noodles, Green Curry chicken curry, and sichuan green beans. The fried rice was so good with the bits of sausage and the fried egg had a nice runny yolk that blended in very well. The wide rice noodles were a hit with everyone. The curry was probably my least favorite as it didn't have the balanced flavor of coconut, and curry that I normally like (just my palate's opinion). The sichuan green beans were almost perfectly fried and had a great flavor. We had the mandi sorbet for dessert and it was a nice and creamy delicious palate cleanser. We brought our own wine so can't speak to their wine list. My only complaint is that the waiter was not cognizant of trying to provide even pours across the 10 of us that were drinking wine. Probably cause he doesn't normally have to do that. The sad observation was that it was a Friday night and the restaurant was fairly empty. Seattle has more than its fair share of transients and so I'm sure it keeps people away. But this restaurant is worth the visit. Just park as close to the restaurant as possible and avoid walking down the North part of 3rd ave.
Style over substance
First time at this Wild Ginger. We were attending a concert at Benaroya Hall across the street. Arrived without reservation to a really busy restaurant, the front of house greeted us warmly and got us a table after 10 minutes. Our server again really friendly and helpful. A low lit cosy eating environment. We ordered wine and soda and entrees of Butter Chicken and Monks Curry (tofu). Really wanted to be positive but the term “style over substance” really springs to mind, we shared jasmine rice but the actual entrees for the price were really low on well Chicken and Tofu, lots of sauce mind. The sauce was tasty but we genuinely felt short changed. Definitely not a cheap experience, very friendly but just not a lot of actual food for the money. We will dine elsewhere pre concert in downtown next time. 3 stars for ambience and happy persona of staff.
A Seattle Treasure!
I've been dining at Wild Ginger since moving to Portland in the mid 90s (it was recommended by a former colleague) and it still remains a personal fave! I so loved the original location on Western but the reality is, they simply outgrew the space. We visited last week with another couple who enjoy it as much as we do. In fact, we took Amtrak up for the sole purpose of eating there! I reserved via Open Table and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Grace was lovely, as was the new hire who shadowed her. They were both helpful with menu recommendations. We began with a round of martinis and then a few appetizers. The Potstckers were amazing and the Seabass Lettuce Wraps packed a delicious punch of spice! My only reason for 4 stars is, the Fragrant Duck was dry, fatty and totally flavorless. Given that this is their signature dish which I've enjoyed during every visit, I was ready to cry, as my mouth had been watering... To Grace's credit, I didn't convey my disappointment. On the upside, we moved on with a bottle of wine and entrees. The Seven Flavor beef was enjoyable, as were the Butter Chicken, Pad Thai and of course the Sechewan Green Beans! We skipped desert and opted for a Spanish Coffee in the bar. All in all, I will never stop loving the Wild Ginger! As a side recommendation: we crashed at The Belltown Inn which is 3/4 of a mile down 3rd and it was cozy and economical.
Just average
My wife an I were very excited to eat here based on all of the great reviews but were ultimately underwhelmed. The food was nothing special, it wasn't that it was "bad" it just didn't live up to the "hype". We were hoping that at least one of the dishes we ordered would be something special, but even though we ordered several dishes nothing really stood out. The duck was dry and had no flavor, the string beans were on par with PF Changs, the mushrooms were good but not spectacular, etc. Then there was the simple basic restaurant stuff .... like offering black napkins instead of white (we were both wearing black pants), we wanted bottled (still) water but they were "out" (we ate at 6:00 pm btw) and my wife's tea had loose leaves which the pot didn't strain. These last few things are just notes and had no impact on my rating of the food.
Amazing restaurant in Seattle and a must to visit.
The Wild Ginger restaurant was highly recommended to us. We were very impressed with the design and atmosphere of the restaurant on our arrival. The service was first class and the food amazing. We saw that the meal sizes were large. We ordered the restaurant’s classic dish Seven Flavor Steak dish accompanied by the Chinese Sausage & Shrimp Rice. Wow! We highly recommend this restaurant when in Seattle. Marvellous. Alex was our waiter and he made us feel very welcome with his professional service and personality. Try this one.
Highly recommended creative pan Asian
A stylish setting. Creative pan Asian menu. We shared the tuna bruschetta bass with herbs and peanuts and Szechuan green beans. All were excellent. Appreciate the reasonably sized portions. The not so Asian chocolate mousse was a fine complement
Exceptional
Fantastic food. Wonderfully seasoned 7 spice beef & butter chicken. Great service. Relaxed atmospher.
